AEM Aem Ems.....when?
I dont think that AEM is confident with the product they are trying to push and they could possibly be doing some adjustments. I still say stay away from it and let other people blow up their cars testing before you
You think? I bet it's perfect and they know it. They're just holding it off to generate anticipation, with the knowledge that the longer they wait, the higher the pent-up demand will move the price when it comes out. Then, they'll orchestrate an artificial shortage of the product in order to drive the price even higher. Before it's all over, they'll have people buying these things who couldn't tell a rotor from a pot-pie, simply on the speculation that the value will increase. Yeah, they're shrewd, but some of us see through their plan, and they're not gonna get away with it.
Well, maybe they will. I don't really know.

i called AEM today about running the ECU to a 20b. The tech said it would be fine but the ECU wouldn't be ready for another TWO months. i almost want to buy something else for the time being and see how it works out and perhaps put it in during the winter.

The latest bad news from AEM.
"Ken,
Not so good news for you and the RX-7 world.
It looks like mid to late September. This is a very firm date, as the last one was, but we have made some very substantial changes in the software that make each system that much easier to work with and also expedites the set-up time as you might have seen on some of the Supra forums.
Sorry for the less then exciting news,
Kirk Miller
It will be worth the wait."
That really ticks me off.

I'm glad I didn't wait on the AEM. Good luck with the PowerFC Ken. I know Dave is having some good results with the PowerFC and the datalogit-at least from what I hear from people who've had their car in his shop.
ahhh forget them im putting haltechs in my 2 cars and forget the waste of time to pull out the halech and put a aem in.
I dont want the stinking plug and play to my harness.
im yanking out all the old harness and the 20b does not have a harness.
do the race package come with all the sensors?

i'm not sure if this guy is for real. somebody who cares should contact AEM to verify, Ken?

What thread? I know, I know, the thread that isn't there. What did it say?
If the release date is this month, apparently AEM is fearful of selling too many EMSs to be able to keep up with demand, so they're trying to keep it quiet.

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?
Why don't you people who are sooooooooo freaking bent up about this ecu just buy the ******* race version? Who gives a rat's *** if it plugs into the stock harness. The stock harness is old and brittle. Yank that ****** out and install the NEW harness you make with the race version. No more waiting...

Becaaaaaaaaaaaause it isn't just the connector that's missing from the race version, it's the base maps and other RX-7-specific programming that isn't in the race version. If it were just the connector, do you really think the product would have been delayed this long?

Argh...
I wasn't saying the only difference between the race version and the PnP version was the connector. Do you see that anywhere in my post? Neither do I. What I said was...FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT THIS ECU (implying the AEM EMS itself, NOT the RX-7 PnP version
) soooooo bad, just buy the race version. No, you won't have base maps. No, you won't have RX-7 specific programming. But you will have the ECU (gasp!) and with a little time and effort it will work JUST THE SAME, IF NOT BETTER than the PnP unit.
I honestly wouldn't want the PnP version AT ALL. ESPECIALLY if you car is more than a couple mods from stock.
Let's take Ken for example. Is his car even remotely close to stock? Hell no. Is AEM going to provide base maps and such for his modifications (water injection included)? I highly doubt it. So what does the PnP version have over the race version that would benefit Ken or ANYONE else with a highly modified car (and besides, who the **** has stock cars anymore...)? The simplicity of plugging your brand new $1200 ecu into an old, brittle, worn harness with old, worn sensors? No thanks, I'll pass.
Buy the race version. Get new sensors. Wire it up with the new wires. Spend some time learning the ECU and software. Spend the time and effort to do it right, and you'll learn so much about your car and the ecu in the process...you won't have to pay someone to figure it out for you!

This just in from AEM:
"Ken,
Good news, in the event we don't run into any road blocks the release has been moved up to late July!!!
Thanks again for your patients,
Kirk"
Too late for me, next year.
