Advanced Keyless Entry Thoughts

What do you guys think about this type stuff. Essentially its keyless entry and keyless start without keys like new nissans and mercedes and lexus and blah blah blah.

http://www.advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK103B.html

seems nice. I dont think i want to go that advance, i just want to be able to remotely start my car and unlock the doors lol.

Looks great, many have done the Lexus push to start and even more have the Honda type. I think it would be cool if you could do everything with your Iphone.

This would be great, as long as you could mechanically override it with your original key.

I would like to do this, in order to reduce wear on my key, lock & tumbler system.

I have looked at these, the one question is how do you get past the factory "steering lock" since you arent using the key anymore?

Leave the key in it always, but disconnect the wires from the ignition?

wow thats really cool. the mazdaspeed 6 has that credit card style key i dont think it has push button but rather a "dummy key" i like that.

Autopage by C3 uses a phone app as some talked about. viper has a less advanced one one.

Wow I'm loving this. I've had an Infiniti and a Nissan that both had the rf entry and needed no key to start. It sounds silly but it is so nice to never have to pull the key from your pocket.

I have an R2 and I have no remote to unlock the car. I've been looking for an option like this and would love to hear how your install goes. Please keep us posted!!

Someone's gotta bite the bullet!

I've had my eye on this since a previous thread a few months back. I'm not really keen on the push-start, seems too upper class. The turn-**** version is what I'd shoot for, just as easy but retains that good ol' crank. Without turning the ignition it just doesn't feel like a car to me.

But man, imagine like driving to CVS (LOL) and just parking the car with the motor on, getting out, doors lock, buy your ****, come back, and the doors unlock. Would be sick! Maybe CVS isn't the best example, but c'mon, there've always been times if you've driven a more modern car that you drive up to the curb, dash to your front door, and then realize your keys are still in the ignition lol.

Hmm I was thinking about adding an alarm set-up. Hell I could install this instead. No one bite the bullet yet?

Edit: Should have known this would be on Youtube. This video has me sold on these units. I especially like how you can still use the accessory mode by just pressing the button like that. I may also install this on my 2000 M5 because my ignition key tumblers are going bad.

thats kinda bullshit that the driver side doesnt have a power door lock actuator. that might be the dumbest thing i've ever heard about these cars. how have people been doing it that put alarms and remote start on with the power locks?

I actually like the Mazda design because it's very simple and reliable. Simply push down the lock on the drivers door and the passenger side automatically locks. No need for a seperate lock button. Remember that Mazda didn't start designing this car till the late 80's. Back then, keyless entry wasn't that big of a deal. Now I can see the hastle when trying to add keysless entry.

I have one of the JDM passenger power door lock actuators, from way back in the day when the GB happened with Ramy.

I am probably going to grab this, but who know how long it will sit until more important things get done.

Is the lack of interest, or rather the lack of people implementing this device, from the fact that it might not work due to how the power locks are set up or possible electric connectivity/compatibility?

Maybe I could contact the company and make an inquiry if this product would work on our cars?

It's funny that you say this. I've also stocked up numerous body parts over the last 8 years (most of which where purchased in 2004) that are just now being install on my Fd. I'm hoping my car doesn't look outdated when I'm done LOL!
