Why not just buy a set of factory round lights? They’re more reasonably priced then they used to be, usually look better, with much less hassle and risk.
And with all the RHD imports coming in now, you don’t sacrifice you non-round taillights for when NADM’ness becomes the style to have!

I'm not arguing with you by any means, but I've seen some people mention they are so reasonably priced and affordable, yet all the ones I come across are 500+ a set, which, imho, is ridiculous for used taillights that have imperfections. For that much I'll just go through Mazda motorsports.

Not taking it as an argument. Just an option.
Was thinking OEM round versions were running around $350 when I bought mine some years ago. Not cheap, but then neither would screwing up my nice standard versions...a definite possibility with me trying to do it. And I’m not a snob, but I have a genuine set with no leaks, fogging etc. That was my logic anyway.

I’ve also seen some really ghettofubar’ed ones on other cars.
