Anyone experts still doing '99 spec tail light conversions?

I've PMed rx7even and rzograbian asking if they are still doing the tail light conversions, but the last threads I can find mentioning them are 15 years old haha Any other experts out there that are still doing this conversion? I'd rather pay someone to do it right than risk deforming my housings/lenses.

an actual set of 99 tails are cheap enough now that it wouldnt be much more for them vs what someone is going to charge you to do the conversion plus shipping both ways.

I just sold my 99 tail lights in damn near brand new condition for $350. I can't imagine hacking up stock tail lights for an end result which will inevitably look like complete **** after a few years will be worth the cost savings.

I just bought a normal set of tails from Fritz Flynn but he said he also had a set of converted 99s and authentic 99s for sale as well.

It's pretty simple to do. Or just shell out $350 for lights which is pretty affordable where as prior it was way more

Thanks for all the responses!

@Vince - I'll send him a PM

@cr-rex - It seemed the going rate use to be less than $100, and my tails are in great condition (less than 50k miles on the car), so I'm not sure I could get the same value out of used '99 tails

@Orbitalmovment - awesome, I'll PM Fritz

@env - agreed lol if I can get new '99 spec taillights for $350 I probably would do that

If you're on Facebook, message this guy. He does '96+ (circle tail lights came out in '96 not '99!) conversions.

With the others to buy the real versions. Prices have dropped a lot over the years. I’d just deal with someone with a good track record to be safe. Makes no sense IMO to pay shipping x2, plus cost to mod a good OEM set.

LOL. Can't think of many times in my life where I've been forced to use spray paint because I'm not poor. Perhaps I'm an inept spray painter...I wouldn't know. What I do know is I've never seen a set of fake kouki tails which looked halfway decent, but I'm happy to be proven wrong. Post pics.

Every 99 spec conversion turtorial I have seen have wrong dimensions. 99 spec is actually flat and not semi gloss like this either. The turn signal was changed to fit the led rings it is suppose to me a couple mm to the left and a slight oval shape.

Mazda did make the 99 spec lights in two versions painted and unpainted. I guess when the new design came out they figured no need for two molds to cover both designs. I have the unpainted 99 spec lights on my 94. I’ll try to take pics tomorrow.
