99 spec tail light circle diameters?

Can anyone that has the real 99+ tail lights give me an exact (as close as possible) measurement of the diameter of the brake light and turn signal circles? Of course I don't expect anyone that has the real ones to open theirs up, but if you could give the best estimate possible without taking the housing apart I would greatly appreciate it. I've read some how to's that it should be 80mm for the brake lights and 75mm for the turn signals, however I've also heard that 85mm is a more accurate diameter for the brake lights and 75 for the turn signals. Anyone care to clarify and help me, and I'm sure many others, out. Thanks.

I would like to know as well.

Actually last night me and a buddy of mine (Team 503) were thinking of using 85mm and 80mm.

Anyone?

I have a set of 85mm circles and a set of 80mm circles cut out. The difference is very subtle. It may however be more noticable when painted on the actual tail lights next to the 75mm circles. I really want to know what the diameter of the oem ones are. If anyone can help I'd be greatly appreciative.

I guess nobody has the real ones. I wouldn't expect many of us United States owners to have the real ones because of the ease and price of the conversion. However, do any of you Japan, UK, or other non-US owners have the genuine OEM tail lights and are willing to give some quick measurements. Thanks.

The real 99 circles are 75 and 80 mm, not bigger. The real ones are actually quite small, leaving a lot of backed out space around the edges. It looks better that way actually.

I agree, after considering the 85/75mm setup I ended up going with the 80/75mm circles. They size difference was too great with the 85/75mm circles. It made the tail lights look lop sided. I followed http://www.jsott.com/rx-7/lights/index.html and the lights turned out perfect. The only thing that I did differently was to use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun. I just want to let everyone know that they can save a little money if they don't have a heat gun and use a standard household hair dryer. It is possible, but it takes a little longer and you have to be more careful. If anyone has any questions concerning the conversion you can pm me. I'm pretty sure I can answer most ?'s and give pointers since its all fresh in my mind. Also, the link that is posted above was very helpful and there are also a few threads on the conversion if you do a search.

Christ there is a thread about this ?!!

Brake circle 3 & 1/4 " Turn is 3"
Thats my measurement from a car that had the realdeals over at PFS. Anyway the job only takes about 1 hour if you have never done it. I can spit them out in about 35 min. There really is not much to it. Placement is all about dividing the space between the cirles equally.

It takes more than an hr to do the conversion. I've done a few dozen of them. It takes at least 1/2 hr to take the lights apart, another 1/2 to make the templates and place them on the inner lense, another 1.5 hrs to spray 4-5 coats of paint including drying time, another 1 hr to reassemble and clean everything up.

30 minutes is just pie in the sky. I seem to remember you did your DP in 1 hr right?? Ha!

It actually took me a lot longer than an hour if you're including paint drying time. Actual work did not take that long. I put 5 coats of paint and waited at least 30 minutes between each coat. It took me about 30 minutes to take apart the housings and another 30 to do the measurements and masking. Actual labor took only about an hour and a half. However, waiting for the paint to dry between coats took a good 2-3 hours.
