87 Turbo II FC speaker size

Year: 1987
Model: turbo II
Specifics: has rear speaker amps mounted to the speakers and does have the front speaker amp on the pass side of the car

I was doing some suspension work on the rear of the car and noticed that the speaker holes are MASSIVE back there. the FAQ says they are like 4 or 5 inch speakers but the holes measured out at 8 inches and change. does anyone know what size speakers you can cram in there without a problem? also if most people are using speaker size 6.5 of whatever, what adapters are you using?

for reference, i like a stock look so the stock speaker grills, even if modified are almost a requirement

I think the rears are 6in but u can use the plastic bowl that the stock ones came with. Or use that speaker ply wood/cardboard material. One of my friends is actually using some 8in subs. Looks nice.
