what im doing is taking out the storage bin liner/carpet. mounting my 6x9's in a special 6x9 boxes i got from pep boys (15 bucks). and putting them in just like that. if u just mount the speaker only to the storage lid, it wont sound right.

if u make the lid thick mdf, then it would work. if ur storage bin lid is plastic, then there will be too much vibration and the sound wouldn't be worth the money you spent.

I put a set of 6x9 JBL power series feeding them 120 watts RMS each in my storage bins. I just cut the bin lids to fit the speakers and screwed them to it, then made a foamrubber gasket to fit under the lid and screwed them down real tight to avoid rattle. Sounds great but it would be better if the bin's where sealed better, like say a set of 6x9 enclousers mounted under the lid...then you wouldn't have to screw the lids shut, and would bwe able to still put a little **** down in there.

I'll try to get a pic if you want

Well, here are some pics I just snapped...sorry no pics of the install process. These pics are a little small, sorry about that, but I had to get them below 100K to attach them.

I have 6.5's in the doors and 6.5's in the rear towers getting 50 watts each, the 6x9's getting 120 each and 2 10's getting 240 each Sounds good to me. The 6x9's really help you hear the words over the exhaust noise...my car is pretty loud, and this puts them pretty much right behind your head, and the tweeters are pointed forward to help as well.
