1st gen audio update?

like it says above... my question is: what's a good set of component speakers(5 1/4") and 4 channel amp? i just want good, CLEAN sound, but i don't(and won't) compete. i asked in the audio section..... they must all be listening to their killer sound systems. anyway, here's a link to the post w/ more info

Are you gonna put a sub in too? I like Polk the best. That's what I'm running and I am very satisfied with it. As for the amp, If you have the extre $$$ go with Alpine, MTX is also very good as is Soundstream. So you have a few choices. what kind of head unit you running? How about wire? I have 4 ga for the amp and 12 ga for all the speakers.

i'm running a 10" bazooka tube. it does the job quite nicely! the head unit is an alpine cassette with cd controls... don't remember the model, but i remember it wasn't cheap! lol whatever it is, it's running with an alpine 12 disc changer using an optical(?) connection. at the moment i have 6.5" pioneer POS's in the rear and 5.25" sound-like-a-clock-radio jensens in the front. these will get the old 'heave ho'! thanks for the suggestions on amps and speaks..... hmm, i guess i *could* go with an all alpine system. i'm just not too familiar with which manufacturers are good and which are not.

The (optical?) cord you are refering to is what is called AI Net, its still a wired hook up, but uses digital matrixing through a grouping of wires.. Less wires it normally would have took with a M Bus...
