16psi at idle? Does the ecu have the right map sensor setting?

Yep, I had the same question, Chris. Problem is even with the MAP Sensor clip unplugged it's still reading positive pressure of 16-19psi w/ the engine off. Went through the Main Setup page to make sure Load Sensing was set to MAP3BAR. Even went as far as trying to manually enter in 8 load/voltage point values for a 3bar map sensor in Sensor Calibration.

I don't know what it is but when the gentleman here wiggled the clip on the MAP sensor wiring, the values in the engine data page changed. It compels me to think that the wiring of the 5V, Ground, and/or MAP signal inputs is goofed somewhere.

ok i put new pins on the three wires. i left them out of the plug and put them in seperatly to make sure there was a good connection.i double checked the wires and hey are in the right place

black(ground) in A
yellow(map signal) in B
orange(5v supply) in C

when i turn the ignition on it reads 16.3psi load still. i even tried a different 3bar map sensor and same thring. any ideas

I would guess you have an issue in the harness. Is it possible for you to de-pin the MAP input at the ECU to check this?

That's my guess, short of a bonkers ECU. It might be worth considering re-writing the ECU's firmware.

i traced the wires on the plug and play harness.

black wire goes to either the 10 or 11 pin
yellow wire goes to pin 15
orange wire goes to either pin 2 or 9

i say either on the pins cause there is more than one wire soldered together then split to thoses pins

There's going to be some wires parsed off into multiples like the ORANGE +5VDC and BLACK -GND leads. That's pretty common. It might behoove you to test w/ a multimeter what the orange wire going to the MAP sensor clip is outputting with the ignition on. Same with ground to check continuity. There's something screwbally going on for the MAP sensor reading to be reading 16-19psi with the sensor unplugged.

i got a multi meter and there is no power going to the orange wire. i checked for power at the plug on the jumper harness and there was no power there either. i also made sure the wires werent shorted out with each other.

Goodness, talk about bad luck. I'm not sure what to tell you, then. You could go back to Main Setup and make sure it's set to MAP3BAR under Load Sensing. Could also re-write the firmware on the ECU.

A customer of mine saw this post and emailed me. Said he had the same issue:

"Just saw ur post on rx7 club about map sensor problems. I had same problem. Plug and play harness pins had to be moved and also I am sure u checked he had build and firmware software right."
