tuneing E6K with out a dyno
I got a turbo FC
if i get a haltech
can it be tune by just taking it out on some open roads
or is it a must to be tune on a dyno
and what type of dyno dose it have to be?

You don;t need a dyno for tunning anything except torque.. But you will need a Wideband O2 sensor to tune A/F on the street... Otherwise you risk blowing up your car.

I don't use a wide-band O2 either - same case with the dyno, it just makes it faster to tune.  I get away with a good EGT and AFR gauge no problem.  This is no problem if you know what you're doing, but the wide-band is pretty straight forward to tell someone to shoot for 11.5:1 ratios under WOT...

a good wideband sensor is all you need, make sure you tune in 4th gear, as thats when you'll be getting maximum loading, the problem is finding somewhere to do redline 4th gear runs LEGALLY
you gotta be clued up on engine physics/chemistry, if you haven't tuned cars before.

EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) is better than an AFR. You just have to find out how to read the exhaust temps and turn them into real A/F Ratios.
And Wideband is even better, but more expensive, and from what I hear, it's only for tuning, so you couldn't/probably shouldn't hook it up as your every day A/F Reading because the sensors might die on ya (or they might not)
There is a DIY Wideband kit from Aus, about $200 I believe, and requires a $100+ 02 sensor from a Honda. Any commercial wideband you'll find will run you over $1000

Get your car on a dyno and do it right.
Sure you can tune on the street with a wide-band for air fuel ratio but you need to get the car on a dyno.
I have seen various rx7s make 20-30 more HP by changing the timing 2-3 deg. You will need to be on a dyno to accurately see what is making more HP.
For example, on the dyno you make 360HP @12deg
390Hp @ 15deg but only 396p@18deg advanced.
Do you think that is useful information? I do.
Can you tell that with a GTECH? Nope.
A tuner once told me that on the dyno you can hear a lot. You can acutually hear little misfires etc.....
My advice....Spend the money, get on the dyno once, set your timings, see what gives you the best results, from then on foward, tune on the street for proper air fuel ratios.

I do datalogs while running thru the gears at WOT.
I come home and analyze them and make my adjustments on what the datalog tells me.
I try to get my injector MV around 850 at all boost levels.
Usually it is a little high, (900) but I want to be safe.
