IL Stock Turbo II in First Gen.... Having driving troubles!!

Hey everyone I'm new to the realm of stand alone computers so don't bash me to much! I have a 85 Rx7 GSL-SE with a stock s5 turbo II engine. I recently installed a Haltech ps1000 computer system with the 13b wiring harness provided from Haltech. Here are the mods that I have done to my car besides the swap; I have a new Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and efi regulator set at 45psi base. A Racing Beat 3" downpipe without any exhaust so far. Other than that the engine is stock. Now my problem is that I am having trouble getting the car out of vacuum into boost. At any throttle position unless I feather the gas I cannot get my car to rev past 2500-3000 rpm with popping. The few times I tried to drive the car around my block the same symptoms occurred. The car idles smoothly and starts up very nicely but as soon as I get to zero load (vacuum) around 2500 rpm she will pop and fall on her face. Could not having any exhaust from the downpipe back be causing this problem? As I said I'm not experienced with stand alone computers so I don't plan on doing the fine tuning myself but I cannot even get the car drivable enough to depart on my way to the muffler shop or tuner. Any suggestions or help of any kind would be great!
