There is a trouble shooting section in the instruction manual. You need to check the electrical connections and verify that the haltech is getting power. I can't remember specifically what it says. If you don't have the manual, it can be downloaded from there web site I believe.

I am running 98 and have used this laptop to tune my other cars with the Electromotive TEC II's so I know that port works. The car runs ok so I would think the Haltech is getting power.

You can confirm the Haltech is turning on when you switch the ignition ON - it goes through a 3 second priming of the fuel pump.

It might be shorter than 3 seconds also. Mine primes for about 3 sec and my buds primes a bit over a second.

If I am not mistaken the TEC software runs in windows. I would load the e6k software in dos and try again.

If the message is still stating "reconnect haltech" then I would try another ECU to make sure your wiring is ok.

I had this problem once before and it was my Haltech, I had to send it back to Haltech USA (when they were around).
