Platinum = E11 with real software update?
What do you guys think? Do you feel that this is a complete new ground up ECU, or is it just an E11/E8 with USB, internal map sensor, and a real software upgrade? It's still using the same wiring, meaning you would have the serial port wasting some inputs and outputs... just little things I have noticed. I am not saying that Haltech is tricking people, or making an inferior product by ANY means. I am sure that it is a wonderful upgrade just because of the software. But do you think that the upgrade really is just software, the USB, and the internal map sensor? (I may be missing some other things, but please talk about it and give your opinions.)

Ok, cool. Just from my browsing and such I didn't see much about upgraded processor or stuff, but I will look further into that. Thanks.
Anything else? This is a hard topic to talk about, obviously all I can give is opinions and guesses because I have no hard information. It would be awesome to get some information from a retailer or someone that might know a little more about the units?
Do you guys think that this might be a "windows ME" or "windows Vista" where it is just a quick little half bugged update advertised as something amazing and new, before they actually release the "real" XP or Windows 7?
Maybe we have got to a point where there are not really any more features we "need" or at least can fit into the box cheaply? I mean people are VERY fast and successful with the old e6x haltechs still.... :/
Just throwing out ideas.

The Sport 1000 and 2000 are the same level ecu's as the E8 and E11 just updated with the items you have listed and those below. I don't believe processing speed as gone up, Claudio can you chime in here. A true Platinum series that would be above the sport 1000 and 2000 will not be out for at least another year. Those ecu's will be at a whole new level above the sport 1000 and 2000. You can see some of those features in the 350Z and GTR ecu's.
HARDWARE
- New look Aluminum extruded box and Haltech new look stickers and physically shorter than the E8/E11v2 range
USB to Laptop communications
- No more looking for Old PC's with RS232 Serial ports!
- No more Troublesome USB to Serial adaptors
Software configurable RPM Mapped Reluctor Adaptor
- CAN port allowing dash and data logging systems to be integrated easily and quickly.
- The CAN port will also be used for communication with future Haltech products
- Our improved reluctor adaptor allows you to map the trigger voltages with 32 load points of resolution. Allowing perfect triggering, every time. Improved ECU noise filtration and Flying loom protection.
- The Platinum Sports series ECU's have a new power supply system reducing voltage variations which can cause noisy inputs
- All ECU inputs and outputs individually shielded from electrical noise
- New Flying lead harness with 4 power relays, and individual power supply wires. This separates Injector, Ignition, Fuel pump and ECU power to provide stable voltage to all devices.
- Grounding for Sensors and power ground now separated in loom to improve noise reduction

The boards are similar in layout, processor i believe stays the same, or at least similar speeds (dont know exactly if the brand and model is still the same), USB capabilities, internal map sensor, pinout is 99% identical, in the Platinum Sport units there are new trigger and home pos. and neg. inputs to provide better noise filtering, but this doesnt affect in anyway a Exx to Psport upgrade.
The amount of inputs and outputs each ECU has is identical, but of course, the new software makes them even more flexible, for example, if you've tried playing with the analog outputs, which are now called DPO's or digital pulsed outputs, you will see that for example, you can now enable multiple instances of the same output, like RPM switch, you'd have upto 4 RPM Switches, if needed, or 4 load switches, or 4 coolant temp switches, etc.
Analog Inputs are now called AVI's, analog voltage inputs, and the digital inputs are called DPI's, digital pulsed inputs.
As far as the really cool and advanced features, like knock, custom axis configuration, dbw, all these will be reserved for the new upcoming Platinum Pro, which has currently been available for the nissan 350Z and has already made its way to the new Syline GT-R, also Honda K-series, MK4 supra, and later on more platforms, but the Pro will be available next year. We quite possibly might see it at SEMA this year.
So, in a nutshell, Psport units are an improvement over the Exx units in quite a few ways, but nothing dramatic like a more powerful processor or more inputs and outputs. Software is a heck of a lot nicer.
