Haltech need to drive 2 amp methanol nozzle solenoid
need to drive 2 amp methanol nozzle solenoid
I got this Holley EFI methanol injector solenoid nozzle to inject water at boost precisely.
The solenoid supply side calls for 2amp max current. I read that DPO is 1 amp max.
Is there a cheap solid state relay that will allow me to run this solenoid like an injector? I don't need high amp solid state relay.. just something that will run this solenoid. I have no clue what the duty cycle for the solenoid would be yet... could use some general guideline if available. Holly is pretty useless for support.. they just want me to buy their ECU that has appropriate settings built-in.

What ECU? DBW outputs will support 5A. Otherwise, the Holley nitrous driver SSR is a neat, clean package. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel.../parts/554-111
just learned that the above holley unit is for temporary PWM duty cycle only--perfect for nitrous but not sure about water/meth solenoid which may see prolonged PWM rampings in the track or in long stretch of road. holley says that's because it doesn't have heatsink and solid state relay needs heatsink if you want to use it for a prolonged periods of time. anyhoo, there are hella solid state relay units on amazon that are pretty cheap. I got those. should work ok hopefully!
Yep. The injector drivers are all high current capable. Guess I was assuming you had a 1500 and no injector drivers available.
FWIW, in my experience, those Hella SSRs don't like high frequency use. I've tried to use them to drive solenoids before without much luck.

good find. could be good option for meth/water pump if that's what you meant. love the items that come with oem-style harness included.
thanks for the info on the hella SSR c-ludwig. probably would return it.

No, I will be using it for an electric water pump for the coolant system. The relay is a generic replacement brand for the Dodge Caravan electric fans. What I was trying to say is that if it can handle the duty cycles, and amps of an electric fan, it should be able to handle a 2amp solenoid.

thanks man!
