MSD 6A with E6K
Can anyone tell me if it is ok to use the MSD6A instead of the 6AL with the E6k since it already has a Rev limiter? If I were to use the 6AL what would be the advantage??
Thanks

The only advantage to the L is the limiter, but since you have a haltech with a built-in and totally adjustable rev limiter you dont really need that feature, if you're buying the MSD new, the L is more expensive. Also note, that on any rotary application you will need 2 or 3 to fire all the coils right. 2 for a distributed car, 3 for FC's and FD's.

Another important point when using 3 X 6AL's is that on the trailing ignition amps the rev limit chips have to be actually half the rpm of what's needed.
For example if you want to rev limit at 8000 rpm then you use an 8000 rpm chip on the 'leading' 6AL and 4000 rpm chips on both 'trailing' 6AL boxes.

I think the point is that you really dont need the MSD's limiter function, since the haltech can do that for you, isnt it? or are we talking about having the advantage of both ignition and fuel cut using the 6AL's?
