Haltech ls1 coils and wastespark
You really won't need to change anything. With a 5 ms charge time in wastespark the leading coils are going to hit 100% duty cycle at 6000 rpm. At 6000 rpm one revolution takes 10 ms. Divide that by 2 (wastespark event every 180* of crank rotation) and you get 5 ms. The discharge time will eat into a bit of the charge time so you can't plan on a full 5 ms charge at 6000 rpm. The Haltech will automatically cut the charge time short and fire the coil when needed regardless of whether it has reached full charge or not. The problem is that if you were to run at 6000+ rpm with that charge time consistently you would give the coil no time to recover and cool between events. This is where direct fire comes in handy.
With an E8 you shouldnt even need to do wasted spark, do Direct Fire and wire up each individual output on the ignition side to each individual coil, run a charge time of 5mS and you should be fine.

No drama, unless you need to free up that extra ign output to control something else cause you've run out of auxiliary outputs?

Or, wait a minute, hmmm.. im wondering if the 2nd gen trigger with the 24+2 doesnt allow you to run direct fire, hmmm.. i dont think so, but, then again, if you set it to wasted spark, then 3 outputs should be working, right?
Send it to Haltech USA to get fixed man, you cant run your engine with only 2 outputs, cost is about 75 for the repairs + 10 shipping it back to ya, put a note inside the box with your details and contact info, and a brief description of the problem.

Should be repaired under warranty.
I've run direct fire on FDs without issue.

The FD and FC trigger's both have the same output characteristics.
I don't think that haltech will be able to fix it, the issue is which I have also had in the past is that outputs will periodically and unpredictable stop working, stay not working until firmware reload and then magically start working again, then eventually stop working down the line. Never once happened in waste spark mode.
Only happened with 1.71, never happened with the older firmware, also I did reload the default map and re create my entire map with the 1.71 default map.
Another big thing, it never happened when using stock igniter's, only with LS1 coils, and I did for a time run 4 stock FC lead igniter's.
Kind of lead me to believe that the issue was something to do with the LS1 coils, or how they were wired or grounded or there resistance or something like that, but still it all worked in waste spark so ?
Or is it possible that the issue was the LS1 coils, and when it was working in waste spark only the lead was firing with the trailing periodicly erring out, and I just didn't know it, clearly wiring the 2 lead LS1 coils together changes the electrical characteristics seen by that output.

yes this is a strange problem. it's been running so well as my daily driver (in wastespark mode of course) and so much smoother than the stock ECU that i havent even bothered having it repaired...
