HELP ME tuning advice. please :)

Hey all my Haltech bro's I am trying to sell my 89 vert tII motor with a E6K. and i am also trying to dayly drive it i have spend about 70 bux in gas each week and i am geting about 10-14 mpg. its pretty bad on 93... and i am aware it is a rx7 and they hogg gas but i have minimal mods and my map is pretty much stock. i need some advice o tuning it fuel curve etc. any advice will help me out sooo much
the motor is a S4 tII small polishing port, stock S4 TII injectors, all GM sensors, 4 wire o2 sensor. with a walburo fuel pump. and a cheep front mount. it seems to get better gas mileage and be fastest up around 80 and above. but its slow as a dog while not in boost and below 4000 rpm. i am running about 8-9psi. im in collage so don't have much money to spend on gas... so any help would be greatly appreciated. I want better gas mileage and a little quicker but I will sacrifice quickness over mileage! IM running pretty rich I think judging by the carbon dust all over the back of the white trunk/ bumper ect...
thank you very much!
Aaron

thanx guys.. i data loged tonight and found that acording to my data log that my TPS isnt working well or there is a wiring problum with the tps... it appears to be at 3% then 17ish then 35 and goes into 0 alot throghout the rpm range. as if the tps was broken so im going to check the wiring and if that dosnt work try to get another sensor...
any ideas...
aaron
and i think the snesor not working well is killing my gas mileage...

you probably just have to calibrate your TPS.

if you don't already have a wbo2 get one, you probably are cruising excessively rich.

crapferd!

well im actualy in the car right now with the wirelss port on my laptop and i just compleatly calobrated the TPS again I did the idel then the full throttle when i did that full throttle i did it very slowly making shure every position% cqaome up 2-65 i sall all of the numbers after finishing that i did a quick data log in my driveway and its doing the same thing as the rpm's ect increase the TPS seems to jump from 2 to 13 to 25 ect. i assume that the data log is too slow?? or is this suposed to jump around. is there a way to increse the incrementation of the time established when data loging? if there is i would like to know. pLEASE My car runs fine just has shitty gas mileage! 10-12 mpg average and there is only a touchup porting job abd stock TII injectors, any ideas? or am i **** out of luck in the gas mileage department? and the AF ratios seem correct.
let me know anything someone!
HELP ME!

Don't you have the E6K proggie that allows throttle pump dead band?
You can set it as high as 10%, I think.
This will eliminate problems with a jumpy TPS that triggers the throttle pump unnecessarily.

I would honestly suggest that you read through your Haltech Manual about five times. It is very informative and gives you a very solid base to start from if you understand that manual you are in a better position to understand the Haltech and aftermarket EFI.

if you're not sure on what to do with the haltech, do boost it. Just drive it like a normal car until you can gather enough money to get it tuned properly. It'll cost you alot more money if you blew the engine than getting it tune by someone that knows what's going on.

what ted was takling about is the "Throt. Pump Dead Band" value under main setup in the e6k dos software. If the value is too small the throttle pump algorithm will be overly sensitive to throttle position changes and inject throttle pump fuel when there is none needed. Try increasing the value and see if it improves your fuel economy... this only affects the transient so if you increase it too much the worse that will likely happen is drivability will get annoying, it will buck when you mash the pedal.

So increment it a bit, don't make huge changes, and if you make it too large and notice some missing when moving the gas pedal, go back to the previous value.

Also, save your map and post it here if you can, we can look at your settings and see if anything is ridiculous... like if your throttle pump values are way too high even if you raise the dead band it will still waste alot of gas when it does activate the throttle pump.

You could also post your map here:
http://pengaru.com/maps.shtml

and just give us the link to where it gets saved on that site, it will give us the original 6km file and a html version which we can all look at in the web browser.
