Exclamation HELP 0 RPMS when cranking!

In November, my car was run into by an SUV doing minor damage to the front right fender and suspension. I had only 1000kms on a new engine/turbo/haltech and the car was running VERY well. It went to the body shop for a month and they could not get it started....I figured some bone head just flooded it so I got it towed home... Well, it still won't start. I have done the un flooding procedure like 10 times with out any luck. The rpms on the engine data page read 0 when I'm cranking, everything else reads normaly.... After cranking for a while I can smell an electric burning smelll too......is my starter shot? If yes, then why can I still here the rotors spining inside the engine?

HELP PLEASE~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

check wiring to the CAS and make sure something did not come loose in the accident. was it driveable before taking it to the body shop or was it towed there? I would also investigate this burning smell. this is likely your problem.

I would pull the starter and take it to an auto parts place and have them test it.

the car was not drivable after the accident. the front right suspension pushed the the wheel into the fender. How can I test the starter my self? Does anyone else have any ideas as too what mey be ther problem?
thanks,

dude, if you hear it cranking, it's not the starter

try redoing the wiring to the CAS -- that should do the trick. When I wired up my Haltech for the first time, I messed up one of the crimps and it registered 0 rpm while cranking. Fixed the connection and it fired right up!

Good luck,
manolis

again it is most likely the wiring was broken or dislodged after the accident. verify all connections and check again.

ecu may have been damaged in crash. accidents can cause many problems I don't think it is just a Haltech issue. If you have another CAS try plugging the spare into the harness and spin it by hand and see if it reads anything. I would still guess it is wiring related.

Uhh...Yes it could be the starter. Even though it cranks, if it is weak, you trailing coil won't fire.
If the trailing coil doesn't fire, you won't have any RPM's. Your tach doesn't work.

I know this sounds screwy, but I had the same problem once. I fixed it by replacing the starter.

Both mine and my son's TIIs had a bad connection at the CAS without having a wreck or being touched. There was no rpm showing while cranking.

Check the ignition switch and wiring also.

Well, I found the cuase of that burning smell....it was my main ground, I fixed it and the burning smell is gone. Still reads 0 rpms when cranking....I guess the next step is rewiring the CAS....

Try grabbing the connector near the CAS and squeezing real tight.

I'm not using the factory plug. I had 4 3m male/female connectors...in the process of replacing them right now...what should I use instead of these things? Where can I get a generic 4 wire automotive plug?

the Deutsche plug seem to be some of the best ones. search online, they are available in different configurations. also the GM type connectors are made by Packard and are available from Summit and JEG's.
