has anyone checked timing with a timing gun ?

just wondering how many people with a E6K have actually checked their timing on the E6K versus an actual timing gun ? to see if they match or not ?

The timing gun has left a permanent imprint in my hand from doing this haltech.

The timing will jump all over the places, as the haltech is constantly adjusting it, due to load/boost etc.

The way I set my ignition up was stab the cas in the way HITman suggests. I then set my timing lock on, locked the timing at -5 BTDC (5 Advance) which is what leading means on my pulley. Set the trigger angle to 65. Attached the beloved timing gun to L1 and then adjusted the CAS till leading (yellow) lined up. Then unlock the timing, and the timing has now been zeroed..

Oh and I have a snap on gun with an advance control. I know IT DOESNT work right with a rotary for some reason. I know what 10 degres of advance looks like and the gun says its like 35 or so

Dude, make sure you do check your accually timing compared to the timimg the Haltech says you accually have. Make sure you do zero the timimg. I drove around for like a month and was pinging at 8psi of boost due to the timing not being zeroed. Luckly I wasnt running any higher of boost or my new motor would have already been toast. Mine was advanced like 15degs more than what the haltech indicated.

My timing matches up at timing lock but off timing lock it doesn't, specially at 3k. If haltech says 30 degrees, the pulley is at 47 degree. it is problem i was just informed. You know what i mean vosko.

Hello East coast crew!

Hope all is well over by my hometown!

Carlos, Vosko - whazzzzzzzup!!!!!!

1FAST2 - How the hell are you getting in the 11s with a stock motor and how much boost are you running on that 87? I remember when you didn't have jack to your car!! Congrats!

Also, I've never heard of a T04B with a 60-1 compressor.
