any more details than that page? I see a mention of drive by wire and knock control.

It seems like there aren't many options for easy drive by wire conversions. I'd like to see a standalone that says "ok, buy thess GM part #s for the DBW hardware, fill out this wizard in the software for base throttle mapping, and then use this type of procedure to tune it"

Press release - http://forums.haltech.com/download/file.php?id=682

Some features include windowed knock control, logging directly to a USB stick for virtually unlimited volume of logs, VE tuning with up to 4 stages of injection, onboard DBW, cruise control when used with DBW, dual CAN-bus with OBDII capability.

Of those, the windowed knock control is what I'm probably most excited about. USB logging will be nice for circuit racers too.

There will be a twist on multiple maps on one ECU that allows multiple car profiles. Instead of just switching base maps, like the current Sport ECUs, the Elite will be able to switch all settings. Just like loading a new map. This makes it easy for one ECU to be swapped between multiple, very different platforms without the use of a laptop to reprogram it. You could swap the same ECU between your Corvette and RX-7 by simply unplugging it from one and plugging it into the other.

As far as DBW profiling, in my words, Haltech is extremely conservative with these sorts of things. DBW control is potentially a HUGE liability issue. I'm not certain how this will be handled for custom configurations and didn't think to ask when I had the opportunity over the weekend.

I did ask about traction control and was very specific about a need for it with a couple current projects. It's not on the spec sheet at this time but it should be in the works.

Looks like they are trying to compete with the AEM Infinity line with this. I'm looking forward to learning more!

I talked to them at the booth at MIR about it, it's meant to compete with the up scale ecu's from motec and link, and to a certain extent infinity. It looks like a very promising unit, waiting to hear on price to see if I can give it a run.

I would love to see the full feature list so I can know if I should start saving my pennies.

Are you freaking serious? I was at Sema for all 4 days and didn't see the Haltech booth.

Will this thing run a 4 rotor with staged injection and direct fire ignition split to all 8 coils? See now I'm really pissed cause I could have asked all these questions at Sema.

It's going to have 8 injection and 8 ignition drivers and I was told it would do sequential ignition on a V8. So, if they write the firmware, the hardware will be there to support it.

There is unofficial confirmation that there will be sequential 4-rotor support.

I have the PS1000 with the patch loom. Can I just buy this ECU and use the patch loom with it, or do I have to buy something else?

Pin out isn't finalized. The connectors should be the same, so you could akways repin as needed to get things running.

Even if it runs the engine, you'll need to do some rewiring to take advantage of features that aren't accounted for in your patch loom. So it would be a good time to start over with a well built replacement harness.

Elite specs look very similar to the Vipec I88

Will be interesting to see pricing comparison

What I'm hearing is very impressive. We still don't have a Beta unit in hand. Last word on that was a couple weeks. From what I'm hearing, the level of control is going to be at a whole new level for Haltech. The Pro ECUs are pretty impressive with what they can do, the Elite is going a step or two further still.

Not only that, we're also told there will finally be VE tuning available in the Elite for us Rotary nuts, with not only 2 but possibly 3 or more stages of fuel injection available as well as full injector latency configuration for each stage. All the current offerings of PRO ECU functionality, full sequential 3 and 4 rotor support, PLUS many more cool new features that will be released with this package. I cant even imagine what we'll be able to do with DBW control. I personally would slap an RX-8 throttle body onto an older rotor with this system just to be able to do stuff like traction control, and improved throttle response. The sky is the limit with the new Elite, its really looking like Haltech will be very far ahead of may competitors with this system.

So basically it looks like sort of like a MS3-Pro has except the Haltech has DBW and black box logging and the MS3 pro has full traction control and VE autotuning:

Freescale MC9S12X 16 bit, 50 MHz asymmetrical dual core processor
10 saturated injector drivers
8 logic level ignition outputs
3 high current (5 amp) general purpose outputs - 2 can be reconfigured as additional injector drivers, and all can be used as PWM outputs
3 medium current (3 amp), high frequency general purpose outputs
All unused injector and ignition outputs can be used as spare on/off or other outputs. This ECU has a LOT of I/O!
1 stepper H-bridge driver
Camshaft and crankshaft differential inputs - supports VR, Hall effect, and optical input
12 volt tach output
Fuel pump output
8 analog inputs (5 dedicated sensor inputs, 3 spare/general purpose)
4 spare digital on/off inputs
3 spare digital frequency inputs
2 knock sensor inputs
RS232, USB 2.0, and CAN communication
Onboard 8 gigabyte SD card for internal data logging
Internal ECU temperature sensor
Real time clock
Temperature range: -30 to +80 degrees C (-40 to +85 without battery for real time clock)
Software features:

Supports speed density, alpha-N (TPS based), or MAF based fuel and spark tables
1 microsecond injector pulse width resolution
Tables for nonlinear injector behavior at small pulse widths
Allows blending multiple load types, including specialized mode for independent throttle bodies
Supports a wide variety of OEM cam and crank position sensors
Individual cylinder trim tables for fuel and ignition
Accelerator pump or model based acceleration enrichment
Closed or open loop idle speed control
Closed or open loop boost control with two separate wastegate outputs, and gear or speed based tuning options
On/off or closed loop continuously variable valve timing (VVT) control - supports up to 4 channels
On/off or progressive nitrous control
Traction control by VSS or RPM
Rally anti-lag with rotational idle
Rotary support - can run up to 4 rotor engines with separate leading and trailing spark tables
Staged injection
Table switching
16 x 16 fuel and spark tables - can be reconfigured to function as 30 x 16 or 16 x 30 by switching tables based on RPM or load
2 or 3 step rev limiter (launch control) with no-lift shifting
Wideband AFR target tables
Flex fuel sensor input for easy switching between gasoline and E85 - can automatically change fuel, ignition, and boost maps based on ethanol content of gasoline
Knock control with adjustable crank angle windowing can adjust sensitivity based on RPM or which cylinder is firing
Allows repurposing injector or ignition outputs as general purpose outputs, or high current outputs as injector drivers for 12 cylinder sequential applications
Real time barometric correction (external sensor required)
A/C and cooling fan control with idle compensation
Safety shutdown based on AFR or EGT input
Sequential shift cut and air shifter control
Diagnostics to detect and ignore failing sensors - can even automatically switch from speed density to alpha-N in the event of a MAP sensor failure

Any word on a release date? Or MSRP? I'm in the market for a new EMS and I'm looking for something that supports VE, E85 and blended fuel, auto-tuning, and all of the other new awesome stuff like the AEM Infinity has.
