Haltech ECU & relay/fuse box mounting

Typically, I find myself congratulating me on the neat solution I found for mounting accessories. But right now I'm having some kind of "Install Block".

I'm working on a street driven '94 FD with all the original accesories.

I just can't visualize how to mount the Haltech PS1000 ECU and fuse panel under the dash. However I arrange it, I end up with it looking like POOP.

I'm sure there has to be an elegant solution, So if someone could help me out here, pictures would be nice, and tell/show me how you've done it.

Thanks

Never mind....

After taking some time off from the project, (not that I spend enough time on it as it is) I was able to focus on the corrections I needed to make.

I started out wrong by mounting the ECU first then when I had the wiring in place with the fuse box I hadn't allowed for its mounting. I had made a bracket that positioned the ECU kind of in the middle of the space behind the kick panel.

So I cut up the bracket and modified it to move the ECU as far forward as it would go.

Here's a pic of the bracket and ECU:

And one of it in the car:

and with the fuse box in place:

So after all the worry, it wasn't really a big deal after all.

I am however surprised that after about 2 weeks and nearly 100 views this thread didn't get a response.

I guess you all had more confidence in me than I did?

We had great confidence in you! Love the bracket!

I did start to type a reply at some point that obviously never ended up getting posted.

I like how you approached the bracket intelligently to make a well-reasoned install. The only flaw I can see in it is that the fuse/relay box is blocking the USB port. Depending on how you work everything else, you might be able to get around this annoyance by using a cable with a right-angle connector at the ECU and leaving it permanently in the car. A short 6" cable can be found on ebay for a few bucks.

My install also placed the Haltech in the stock location, but was a bit more challenging to make nice and tidy. It is attached to the stock ECU bracket using several existing holes, with enough space leftover for other useful items too.

The flying lead harness I got with my PS2K was produced prior to Haltech adding the fuse/relay box and I felt that having the relays flopping around just wasn't suitable. So I chopped them and the fuse panel off, made several targeted cuts in the rest of the harness to extract the panel in favor of the Volkswagen fuse & relay sockets housed in the frame/bracket where the battery is normally found on a FC. The time spent thinning out the excess, cleaning up and rebuilding the harness was time well spent.

There is actually just enough space for a usb cable to plug in. I've got a usb cable with a panel mount female usb b at the other end and am going to put it in a switch panel under the radio for easy access. As a matter of fact that is today's project
