Claudio's maps are pretty good. I think most of the problems people have is from using a different revision than it was created in.
I used one of Claudio's E8 maps and some of the fuel correction maps(air temp I think) were adding a ridiculous amount of fuel. I opened the default program provided with my version of Halwin copied all of his settings and imported his maps and problem solved. If you use the map with 550 primaries it will start but be very rich. If you take out 20 percent out of the primary map you will still be rich but much closer.
I am not an expert by any means but I hope this helps. I am in the same boat as you just a little further in my journey.

I doubt your problem requires your E8 to be sent out for repair.
what sensors are you using ? Do your calibration tables match your sensors ?
setup-sensor setup-calibrate sensors- If the calibration tables look good change it to some random calibration and then back to the correct calibration. On the temp sensors most calibrations 0=260F
short the input to ground you should show 260 on the gauge page. If you want to test the other end of the scale you could give the input 5 volts from your senor 5 volt output.
If you are still having problems use the default program in halwin transfer your settings and import your maps. Strange things can happen to your program if your voltage goes low. The first time it happened to me it drove me crazy.
