Fitting a Haltec

How hard is it to fit a Haltec E6K to my T2? Does the Wiring loom come with the correct plugs etc or would i have to fit plugs to the new loom?

Does the new Haltec come with a Map or do i need to get hold of a starting map?

You would have to do some light cutting and wiring. Specially if you don't get the terminated harness. THe flying lead harness is no bad, that's what I used.

You can get maps to get you going from THE HITman.

I am going to get all the Ecu and wiring from the HITman, have you had any experiance with his Fully Terminated loom (does it fit well?)

I am not very good at the hole Electrical thing so i am thinking of going this way.

What is your opinion?

The Haltech (GM) harness connectors do not match the stock ones. You will need to cut and splice into the stock stuff to get it installed.

yes its a replacement loom, but you need to put in the haltech's sensors which connect to the haltech supplied plugs. its a piece of **** install, if you print off HITman's install sheets then you'll do it easily

talk to Styk33 and those guys who have had their e6k's with terminated harnesses installed around 18 months or so.

Unhappy

I have had my E6K installed for a couple years now and about three months ago I pulled out the harness. Just me going through my car making sure everything is the way it should. I had a couple pins come out of my terminated harness on the injector harness. No biggie, I just re-crimped/attached the wires.

The one bad thing about the terminated harness is you do not use much of the terminate part. The parts you do use are pretty long. I coiled up the extra wire under the dash, but it is a lot of wire.

Reasons for not using Haltechs terminated harness
1) You have to use their choice of sensors, which may not be up to your par
2) It is not made for your model of car, so it may have stuff you don't need, and may be far too big/extra wiring
3) I've read of the wiring/connections being shoddy/crap

So what you are saying is Get the Flying harness and take your time and do a nice job fitting it and it will be fine.

Exactly! I got a terminated harness that was on a 2nd gen and I cut it all and started over. This also allowed me to run it through the stock wiring boot. It makes it real clean.

Iv'e got the terminated harness..
Yes its big and bulky, however it goes through the stock firewall hole just fine..
I have a feeling it would fit better on right hand drive cars than left had drive, and thats why some of the lengths are off..
Its nice to get a new harness, my stock harness was so bad, i am amazed the car ran and ran as well as it did, there were wires that were touching with no insulation on them and broken, the stock plugs were pretty much fubarred as well, the terminated harness comes with plug and play injectors as well, its a nice touch( and fits the 1600 cc injectors )....
The data cable needs an extension for sure, also I feel the fuse block and relay connections should be full length on the harness so they are not over on the turbo side of the engine bay, but again this may be ok with right hand drive cars...
The really nice thing about the terminated, is everything is batched together already, little chance of an error in wiring..
If you had tons of time, I see nothing wrong with the flying leads as well though, but I mean tons of time..
I only get about a 2 hours a week to work on my car so the flying leads would have taken my about 6 months to do a really nice job of it.. Max
