Bumping this back up as no real information was given in the original thread but topic is very relevant.

Being totally new to the F9 and EFI tuning in general - does anyone have information on where to start with the tuning process?

The nice thing about the FB setup is that the ignition is already dialed, this computer can augment the stock setup by eliminating the MAF and allowing for alternate (S4 / S5 / custom) intake manifold setups.

I will be documenting my build and assemble with as much info as I can on the subject, but figure we might as well get things going here.

BTW it's dam near impossible to find info on "F9" on this forum because they block 2-letter searches. So sometimes you'll see me reference "HaltechF9" for search keyword purposes.

i like the F9 on the GSL-SE, as the stock ECU isn't sequential injection, so the F9 is basically the same thing.

i think you could get it running really well on an F9, have a read thru this, 1984 Mazda Training Manual

and that should get you started toward some of the settings

Personally I'm putting it on a 4-injector S5 setup, but with the GSL-SE ignition. But the basics should be the same, just more injectors, no?

And that is an excellent resource, j9. Thanks for that!

Edit: Oh wow - thats an infinitely useful resource. Even has wiring diagrams and detailed breakdown of power steering system, etc. I'll have to get a screen reading program to read it to me while i sleep. Imbue that stuff deep in there.

yeah basically just think of the F9 as the stock ecu, that is programmable. it'll do 4 injectors too.

if i was going to do this, id use an FC AFM, and really have it stock, although i'd keep emissions too, cause smog is an issue here

Ya, no emissions here, and I was planning on going stock with an rtek, but this system is much simpler, easier for me to grock.

However I might be moving to Cali at some point, there seems to be a few jobs in web app development down there... Not looking forward to the **** emissions control sniper squad.

I do plan on throwing a few cats in there at some point as I am a bit of a hippy when alls said and done.
