E8. Weird happenings.

Ok. The datascreen is not configurable. I would like the main data screen to indicate speed and A/F Ratio.

But here is a few things I noticed today during my first drive with the E8.

-when I have decel selected I cannot maintain free rev it at all. Trying to maintain 3000rpm it will fluctuate plus or minus 500rpm. I turned decel off and I can maintain steady rpm.

-looking at the main data page during slow free reving (car not moving) the TPS will not move from 0 TPS position even at 4000rpm.

-Having the 3d MAP open and WB input 2 datapage open and datapage open makes it have like 5 seconds nap time all the time. (Screen freezes the data indications all the time)

Any ideas.

This is on a brand new laptop. So computer speed should not be an issue.

I'd say your first and second issue are related. You have a TPS problem. When trying to hold 3000 rpm with the decel fuel cut engaged it's seeing 0% tps and cutting fuel as if it were in downrev. It hits 2500 rpm (I'm assuming that is the programmed cutoff for decel fuel cut) and picks up fueling again. Then the cycle starts over again.

If you have a TPS problem you should address that first, dont you think?

As far as the software is concern yes, the 3D map takes a lot of graphics processing power, i personally dont use the 3D maps at all. Also, on the engine data page not being configurable it pretty much has all the data you wanna look at, so i dont see the relevancy of the matter.

The E8 is a solid system, if your setup has a few problems dont blame the haltech and fix the problems first.

I've never had a tps problem before. Previous to this I had a Haltech E6K. No issues ever with tps or decel.

Thanks for explaining it to me. It never crossed my mind that the decel was in fact engaged due to it seeing 0. I can actually drive the car normally and the tps is fine and the decel works. Just not in the way I explained above,

Ian

The tps did function through out the range when I calibrated it. And works when I drive the car. Just does not work like I explained in my previous post.

Obviously I am trying to fix the problems and posted questions on what it might be.

-How do you compare road speed. I have mine set up and want to drive down the road and see if it matches my dash speed. (I used live datalog screen shot)

Just change the number in the Road Speed Value field until the speed in the data page matches the dash, unless somebody around here knows how many pulses per km this thing puts out? i think there's a post around here where crispeed said what value to put in there. Do a search for "road speed" and see what you come up with.

Or PM him.

I used his values. Had to make a slight adjustment. The road speed value is not available on the data page. I had to use the live data page.

Thanks for your help.

Another thing I noticed. If you logged in imperial you cannot switch it to view in metric. Also the data shows different unit tags. Like one time the wideband will show ups as tag AFR and the other time mV. TPS showed units as °C and other times nothing.

Claudio. Have you ever seen something like that happen with your stuff?

Which version firmware/software are you using?
Also your laptop is serial port or USB?
