E8 - barily runs - likely wire disconnect

In the process of searching for the fan-control wire, I think something disconnected.
The shop that did the rebuild (and did not install the haltech) identified the fan-control wire and in the process something changes that seriously affects drivability.

The car started a little hard and as I left the shop it was running a little rough, but I thought it would go away.

In less than a block it was running extreamly rough and got progressively worse as I drove home and at one point the engine died as I pulled to a side street with poping and loss of power. It *did* restart readily and I kept the rpms up while slipping the clutch to get it moving.

It seemed to run much worse under load and now as it sits cold in my driveway, it starts for only a few seconds and then dies. After the battery is run down, I can jump start the engine, but if I try to .give it gas, it starts to die.

As the engine warmed, it seemed to run somewhat more smoothly.

Can anyone suggest where to look for a disconnect or a haltech software display
that might show something?

could you possibly take a screen shot of the engine data page with the car running and post it up on here? that would make troubleshooting much easier.

I'll give it a try. Need to jump start.

Live data might be tough to get a shot-of. Are there log parameters that could be substituted, just in case the live data can't be captured?

have you tried reloading the last "good" map? if not.. then save the loaded map and then reload a known good map

did they connect the fan? does the fan work?. have you try disconnecting the fan to see it it ran better?

do you have a timing light? can you put the timing light in each plug wire while running and see if each plug is firing?

Is it possible that your alternator wire is disconnected and you just drained your battery cause its not charging? that would cause the progressive worsening of driveability on your car.

Alternator wire looks ok.

I had it towed back to Rotorsport and a preliminary look *seemed* to indicate fuel pressure of 15 lbs. When I said that the pump was a Supra pump (that he had refered to as a "Cosmo" pump a year ago), he seemed to dought his diagnosis.

To reiterate: the car went from running fine to just a little slow starting, a little stumbling, and progressively worse running, with only moving of wires an pluging-unpluging the 32 wire plug from the haltech to identify the PWM #3 wire for fan control.

Just heard from Rotorsport that the fuel pump was bad. He said he wasn't sure what make it was, but not the Supra/Cosmo pump he sells. Also, apparently there was some strange holes drilled for wiring stuff and the tank was open to the air. So, one of my questions about fumes and leaks is now likely closed.

Ouch! I guess education is always expensive and it never pays to be penny wise and pound foolish. Rotorsport isn't cheap, but they are professional.

I thought I was driving a bomb but, ZOW.

Apparently the moving of the haltech wires was only a coincidence.

Can't wait drive the vert, now that its fixed.
