E6K/Aquamist interface What is the best approach?

I searched, and came up with little bits here, and there, but nobody has posted that they have a system up and working properly. I read Marcels brief thread, but it seemed not to be definitve, and the last post is an un-answered question, soooo, anyone on this forum have a working system? If so, can you share your approach, and any successes, or problems associated with it? This is an E6K on an S4 TII. Thanks, Carl

What Aquamist system were you thinking of running?

I was thinking of running the 2C system that is controlled by a PWM output on the E6K.
http://www.aquamist.co.uk/cp/sys2c/sys2c.html

Since there are only 4 injector outputs and they are used for fuel.....

I was wondering what you would do? Share the High Speed Valve with one of the injector signals?

Since that HSV operates just like a fuel injector.

I planned on using a 2C which I own with a FIa2 controlled by a PWM. I know that its been done tapping an injector signal, but that seems like a second choice. That said it is the only way anyone on the two forums I frequent has had success. I am going to get in touch with Danzio performance, they seem to know what's up with this. Carl

Yeah, I want to see what you find out. I read on some other forum that they used the NOS switch PWM output.

But, I do not understand what is wrong with putting the HSV on an injector PWM. That way the water would mirror the fuel delivery.

Just use the right sized water jet so the water delievery is correct.

I was told by a rotary garage expert for 20 yeats that you should not use water injection as its bad. Washed out the lubrication or something.

Any truth to this?

Well, I ordered all the extra bits I needed, and hope to install, and tune the system this weekend. I will be using a 2c with a FIA2 add on, and a washer pump instead of an accumulator. Apparently the recomended place to pull a signal is one of the positive primary injector leads, so that is what I'll do. Carl.

Sweet!

Question for you though...from what I read it seems like the FIA2 add on...turns a signal into a PWM signal....

So if the injector lead is already in PWM form...what do you need the FIA2 for?

Can you tell me where you ordered the parts and prices?

I got a $660 on a 2C quote.

Also, what kinda of power are you running and how much fuel are you giving it now?

Here is a WI forum ....

Brad at KC Saab will hook you up with the parts, you'll need a high volume pump(like a windshield washer pump), and a couple other do dads. I am making 500rwhp+@24PSI without the Aquamist. I am at the top of third in about 5 seconds at 18 psi, I am afraid to turn it up on the street it is so fast. i need to spend some more time on the suspension, and brakes before I really start playing with it. My plan is to add enough water to keep the IAT in the 90s while road racing. I run 111 octane, so I am tuned w/out the water, and adding the water for cooling. Here is a link to the story of my tuning session. https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/506rwhp-387-tq-%4025psi-d-81-p-trim-rules-442051/ Carl

Sounds like one hell of a car!

Explain to me the FIA2 though...I don't understand why it is needed?

Carl, you have seen my setup and saw that it works perfectly, well the water injection at least
Just splice the signal wire directly into one of the PRIMARY injector wires from the haltech loom. This is what Aquamist recommends, Brad from KC Saab recommends, and finally what I did and it works fine. You can adjust the pressure switch to activate the water injection very easily by turning the screw setting. The stock setting is 10 psi. I have mine come online at 6-7 psi.

The install is really quite simple.
There is no reason to try to use a pwm signal to trigger it.
The system comes online with a vacuum switch at the desired psi and the Aquamist system gets the signal from the injectors so it can match the IDC and maintain a constant water/fuel ratio throughout the rpm/load range. The water nozzles that you select dictate the ratio of water to fuel.

Right now I have a 0.8 and a 0.5 nozzle that gives me 10% water to fuel.
If you need I can provide the formula to get the desired percentage of water you want to run. 10%-15% is typical though.
Most people do not run enough water btw.

Check out this cool video of an intake plenum with a sight glass to enble viewing of the water injection in action:
