Anyone using TMS-4 tire pressure sensors?

I've been trying to find internal sensors that can have the battery changed that work with an app on the Android head unit, but I haven't had much luck. I've found those type of sensors, but I can't get any of them to work with an app, so I'm now leaning toward just adding the Haltech set and letting the ECU control that. But I'm wondering what kind of alert you get, whether it's just a check engine light, or if it tells you which tire is getting low. I found some Ford PIDs for OBDII so hopefully those will work, but we'll see. I'm not crazy about not being able to change the batteries, but I'll keep looking for something on that front.

Does anyone have experience with this kit? I know TrailBrake sells it too, but it's actually cheaper from Haltech.

Dont get the trailbrake. It is significantly easier with the haltech unit and it is exactly the same thing.
i bought both and it is a headache to setup the trailbrake unit and i feel like you wont get the support to make it run well.

with that being said bare in mind that it is not a professional grade sensor and the price is reflected on that. I would personally recommend saving money and get something better despite the huge price difference but then again it depends on your intention with your setup. I gave up using it

Interesting, I didn't realize there would be a difference between Haltech and TrailBrake. I bought the Haltech kit today along with an expansion hub. So I guess it's a software difference between the two?

Yeah the sensors are exactly the same as in another kit that I already have but it has a simple USB plug in and it's for an Android Head Unit, but I haven't gotten it to work yet. It's one of the cheap Chinese kits, but that makes sense since it's for a Chinese android head unit lol. I'm not sure what else I would buy, all the kits I see are the cheap Chinese/Amazon kits. I've never seen a nice quality aftermarket kit.

You gave up using the Haltech kit?

My intention is just for knowing whether a tire is going flat. I don't need a super accurate sensor for racing. Years ago I got a flat tire without realizing it and drove on it for miles, and it was a brand new tire. Ruined after that. So I'm trying to avoid that.

if that is the intention the system is perfectly fine. i have used it for racing and it was okay. but I was looking for something better. izze racing makes a really nice kit for the Motec/AIM units. I bought the external sensors from IZZE and i will be getting the TPMS system but we are talking about a significantly more expensive item.

The reason why i am saying go with the haltech over the trailbrake, the haltech variant is set up for the haltech ecu units and it is plug and play. you will be up and running literally in seconds.

The trailbrake is not. you have to figure a few things out.
So the haltech is cheaper and plug and play. i think that its a no brainer

How does the Haltech kit alert you to a condition? Is it just a check engine light and you have to get into the ECU to tell you which tire?

Wow, that is a really nice kit. I've never heard of them or that kit. Do you have a Haltech and you're going to adapt that system to it, or do you have a MoTec? I'm jealous of that kit lol, but it doesn't really make sense for my needs.

I bought a Haltech kit and expansion hub yesterday, just waiting on that to get here. Definitely a no-brainer over TrailBrake. Thanks for telling me, I didn't know it was going to be that much of a hassle. If I could get replacement sensors from TrailBrake, that would be ideal, because Haltech told me I'd have to buy an entire new kit when the sensors die. That's insane to me.

i am running a haltech elite 2500 but i am not using the haltech dash. I am running an AIM pdm32/10” dash combo so i can pick up any parameter that the ecu is seeing. I am assuming that it would be the same with the IC7 where you can set threshold parameters and warnings but i have not done it so i cant say this with certainty.

as for the replacement sensors, if you get the external sensors i believe the battery is replaceable but i think for the internal sensors are not(or vice versa). I opted for the external sensors as i am running a square setup so i could do a tire rotation without having to touch the laptop and reassign the sensor location

Oh so you'll be able to use those sensors and feed directly to your AIM dash? I have Speedhut gauges so I won't have the option of viewing all that on my dash. I do have an Android head unit with OBDII apps and I can see most things, but not everything. Only what Haltech has configured to be seen through PIDs. I don't really pay much attention to gauges anyway though so I guess it's a moot point. I just like having them available to check.

I used external sensors before but I kept getting a leak on one tire. Discovered that the weight of the sensor was bending the soft valve stem while driving to the point that it was leaking. I could just use hard valve stems and wouldn't have to worry about it anymore, but I've switched to internal sensors after that. I'm also on a square setup so I can rotate, but I don't mind getting in to change them. For the sake of changing batteries though, external is the way to go. Much cheaper and faster than having to dismount the tire, along with your reason.

If you're referring to the IZZE sensors, the internal ones have changeable batteries. I would assume the external ones do too, all the external sensors that I've seen have that option. But I didn't see those sensors on the IZZE site.

I am talking about the 2 haltech variations. One of them you can replace the batteries and on the other you cant
