I already posted this once before, I am hooked up with a badass engineering firm that specializes in 3d printing automotive products. They are in the Miami area and there are tons of FD's there that can be used to test and install. We just need a SERIOUS person to aid in the design and install of the bezel, light mount, and headlight travel limiter

^ This is being done as we speak by SuperDan. Just got off the phone with him. So:

1) Hang in there and you will get a top-notch product - yes, I know how long it has taken.
2) Wait for the HotWaterLabs version supposedly coming out. Last I heard, it would be this fall. Like the look and feel of their other products but have no idea about the quality.
3) Do it yourself. I did and have a really nice result. I came up with the design and materials used, Kilo did the mechanicals and wiring, and then a body shop in Orlando did the shrouds. If I can do it, so can you. Somewhere I posted all the parts used -they are all OEM quality and DOT certified.
4) Keep bitching and get no where. I personally like this option as it keeps my "kit" one of a kind and unique.

Oh, so an engineering firm is handling this now? That's great news!

Honestly though... I think people are just bitching because Dan has made lots of promises that went unfulfilled. What you tell people matters.

If you say "this is going to happen in a month" then just go dark - I don't know what else to expect? If before that month is up you say "hey guys, this is what happened and this is what's happening" at least people have information to stand on... then if they bitch, well, people are always going to bitch.

That said, if HotWaterLabs does indeed release a product I have to admit, I will be tempted. At least there is a company standing behind it with a decent track record.

I guess my faith in Dan is just slipping. If his lack of communication is this consistent across the design process - why would anyone think he'd be anymore responsive when is comes to shipping a product quickly? Or dealing with a box lost in transit? Or dealing with a warranty issue?

Just seems Dan bit off more then he could chew and is finally starting to realize it. Luckily, it sounds like he found a good ally to help push this to the finish line... let's just hope he makes it. Let's just hope THIS TIME is different.

If we all pile onto option 4 maybe we can get Dan pissed so he'll say screw it and drop the project completely.

I can understand why you are all growing impatient. But here is a brief rundown of my reality. I'm in school, working nearly full time, completely renovating a house and have various therapies each week for our son that has cerebral palsy. All of this in addition to the fact that I don't have an FD so all of the testing and modifications are done via mail.

So it is very difficult to nail down a time table, because every time I think we've got it something new doesn't fit right. So could I have released it sooner? Yes. But it would only slightly better than an eBay kit. Which is why it is delayed so much.

So for an update it is on its way to a company called Velossatech to be laser scanned and printed. We'll see how it goes.

Honestly, family first. I am not going to copy your kit. I decided to go a different route. Similar concept, but what pop-up headlight setup isn't? (only so much room to work with) If you make a good product, people will buy it. But don't sacrifice family for a few bucks.

I had one that I lost to fire, and at the time I was just getting married and unfortunately my wife brought a fair bit of debt with her. So I decided to take my insurance money and pay it off. With the addition of children a toy/project car isn't in the cards. However I got my rotary in my rx8 (though it doesn't really compare to my FD) because it has back seats and I got a killer deal. With that said if I can get "lucky" I may be able to get one soonish.

I agree, it looks nice. However, IMO, the light needs to be lowered about a quarter to half inch for your shroud to look correct. The lower front leading edge of the shroud should be body height, or slightly lower. Yours peek up above the body line and leave a visual and air gap. Can the headlight height be adjusted lower? Are these some of Dan's latest shrouds, or are these the ones you ORIGINALLY received back in '13 as one of the early beta testers?

Nice to see some movement on this

Dan, hope all goes well with your family. I can't even imagine how difficult it is dealing with health issues with a young child.

You have any lower angle shots? Like others have said, it doesn't seem to be as "sleepy" as the set David and Toyzzz has, but camera angle could be playing tricks.

Look great regardless. Hope these make it to production.

It needs to be lowered for sure
The garage is tight to get a better shot
And I got this parked in front of it, I don't feel like moving it now. Tomorrow for sure
You know Florida summers can be pretty lousy

Drew (moosejaw), headlights and shrouds looking good, regardless of height. RCCAZ is correct, the height should be about one inch lower, or the bottom lip of the shroud should be below the bumper line.

The height is adjustable with the control arm. Can't remember exactly which control arm you have, but you can dial them up or down.

On the overall project, Dan has had a number of issues, both with the project and with family, so I too second MattGold's hope this gets done for you guys. Matt has been gracious to offer his help. I know Dan is ever so close and I also know you've heard that before.

As much as I like that my setup (along with Mossejaw and Toyzz now) is unique, I hope this gets across the finish line so all of you have this as an option.
