Waiting on molds for the shrouds and the first samples produced. Everything is paid up - so I’m just as anxious / excited as you.

Just wanted to share some exciting stuff with you guys!

This is the first sample shroud off the *wooden* mold. They're sending them out ASAP and we should be able to test fit them early next week.

Once we confirm the shape, fitment, etc - they will send the wooden mold off to be cast in aluminum. Once THAT is done, we can start mass producing shrouds.

I think my favorite part of this is how OEM it looks. It really looks like it could have been a Mazda part from the factory.

Realistically we're still a few weeks away from full on production, but progress is progress none the less.

Are they CNC'ing wood from CAD? I'm working on a homebrew CF project and I'm working on the mold by hand. Just curious about the process, if it's not sensitive. I'm using wood, bondo, and paint. And, it's definitely a learning experience. Would love to make some other small parts in CF for the community, if I ever get good enough.

Very interested in these! Also if you have some production issues with the shrouds pm me please. I work for a precision plastics company that makes small custom batches of products like this

So we got the first samples back off the molds and they are great! Install went smooth and fitment is really good. There are a few areas I think we can tweek, but in terms of quality, consistency and finish, I'm really happy.

The next step is to make some adjustments and then tool up for full on production.

Looking good Matt! Looks like a few tweaks to the shrouds will get you across the finish line but note that just about all FDs vary a bit in the lights and fitment, so there will only be so much you can do.

Way to make this happen.

Thank you David.

It's true. With any 25+ year old car that has been taken apart and put back together numerous times there will be some, uh, "variance" in fitment. Not to mention interaction with aftermarket hoods, fenders, bumpers, headlight lids, etc, etc. My goal is to just get this as good as possible in order to minimize those issues - without going crazy over it. There are two spots that actually bug me and we'll get those hashed out and push this thing over the finish line.

Looking great. You might consider making some holes in the shrouds to access the adjustment screws for aiming the lights like the factory shrouds have.

Shrouds will have to be removed for adjustment. Just the nature of how the lamps adjust.

Look what showed up!

The aluminum molds for the shrouds are here! We have a little bit of work to do on finalizing instructions for the vacuum former - but this makes the project so real and is a huge leap to completion.

Jigs for the housings - DONE
Molds for the shrouds - DONE

From here it's basically ordering lamps, finalizing wiring and charging ahead! In an effort to try and forecast hurdles, I'm reaching out to Hella USA and Europe to see what kind of inventory is currently available / could be ordered from overseas. Pretty soon we will formally open a Group Buy (in a new thread) to help us finalize numbers and start taking orders.

The goal is to have these readily available by SevenStock, which is less than 60 days out... so there, I said something out loud that you can hold me accountable to.

So what are the lighting options? One of my OEM Acura drivers died out on my kit and was wanting to go LED this time around.

BIG NEWS!

We worked our tails off and WILL have a set of these at our SevenStock booth!

I didn't had a chance to take and edit a bunch of photos before I had to pack them up... but if you can't make it to SevenStock and see them in person - check these out!

Everything seems absolutely perfect and we're going to try and get a set installed ASAP.

I currently have FIVE sets on hand if there are any guinea pigs in the audience.
