I like the idea of the three lights because its different from all the other 2 light options out there. It does shape the area a bit and allow for a DRL option vs going fog lights etc. LEDs can be added by people who want them.

I would strongly reconsider how you plan on mounting the lens. Having screw or rivets through the clear lens will ruin the look. That's the main reason why I haven't picked up the RE-A kit. Evo-R uses adhesive and it works fine, as do most factory cars with a clear lens (G35, 350Z, etc.) The problem with the RE-A kit is that there is not enough surface area for the adhesive to work properly or it was installed by someone with no experience.

You can go to the nissan dealarship and get the adhesive, I modified my G35 lights and this stuff worked great. It will improve the look of your lights drastically, screws to hold the covers on will kill the whole "sleek" look.

Or at least don't pre-drill the holes, so then we have the option of using adhesive or mechanical fasteners.

I think the lens should surround the base like a full cover and not just sit on top for a seal. Not sure if you were already thinking that or not.

I think just the idea of LEDs. But those guys above have pretty valid points. More valid than mine I would say.

the shroud will have 3 "tubes" 2 open that the projectors will be inside and shine out, and the 3rd for the LED which is closed and the LEDis mounted to the flat surface with a 3m tape (stuff is unreal, same stuff that auto makers attach emblems to cars with). so if some one chose to leave the LEDs off, it would have a "missing something" kinda look.

The lens will be attached to the frame same fashion as the c-west lights, that way the screws wont be visible while the hood is closed.

+1. The "tube" design seems cheap and does not flow with the beautifully curvey FD, in my opinion.

The general layout looks good to me, perhaps just a slight adjustment to better follow the line of the hood, but what you're after seems like it will look good.

i dont really see an alternative to the tubes, if i were to take away the tube the light modules would have to be recessed further back, that would give it a look more like this,

granted there would be a 3rd light but u get the idea.

if you look at the C6 vette headlights they are very clean/refined. the biggest issue in my design vs. vette design is i need a design that will bolt in an already existing structure, where the vette light was designed with the car. so im at a slight disadvantage.

superdan,

Just my $.02.

Be careful with that design. You'd be surprised how much a C6 resembles an FD with certain headlight designs.

My FD gets mistaken for a C6 or gets commented on how it "resembles one" all of the time. Im talking in real life not through the forum. For the most part it doesn't really bother me but sometimes it does get under my skin as I have come to realize that by having such similar looks it really takes away from the uniqueness of the FD. The sad part is I started my vision about a year before the C6 came out lol...

A pic so you can judge for yourself.

definitely see where you are coming from, however the fact is that the average person is going to be more familiar with vettes (round here at least). and i would think that the same people that think its a c6 would think those with the stock popups are a c5, so for the lay-person no matter what it looks like it will get mistaken for vettes.

but thanks for the input.

I had the stock pop ups for the first 8 years of ownership and not one single person made a comment of the like. But as soon as I chaged the lights the comments flooded in. I'm not trying to start a debate . I'm just giving you my experience and a heads up.

Either way keep up the good work!

i see what you are saying. i think (myself personally) for those i look to impress are rx7 enthusiasts and other tuners and they will be able to tell the difference. just like my license plate that read jdm rx 7 the people that dont know what JDM means wouldnt get the significance any how.

do others feel the same?

Just to clarify: the ones "in the know" are the ones that say "it resembles a C6". The ones in the don't know mistake it for a C6.

FYI Even with the annoyinng comments I still love my lights, otherwise I would have changed them by now. Ok I'm done crapping the thread. Sorry Dan back to business!

i dont really see a C6 in ur lights, definitely mine will resemble them (considering that is my inspiration) but not a complete copy. but in my defense the C6 lights also resemble others.

what if i went more this route (all pics are a Ferrari 360, different angles)?

maybe a higher end look? less cheap? and no C6 comparison, only ferrari comparison, which I prefer.
