Yep, they installed all new AC parts and then couldn't get the system to turn on (wiring issue on their part). They then zapped my tach converter in the process and the tach didn't work. After spending multiple days I finally convinced them to check the Dakota Digital converter box and read the codes on it as this had to be the issue - it was, after wasting 4 days having them check other stuff. Yesterday they then broke my turbo oil return line - tough to do as it is braided stainless. This will be repaired today and the new Dakota Digital box is supposed to be here by 10:30 am so I hope t finally be out of there. I've known these guys for a long time and this is a fist bad experience for me
Will I ever get the car back? Will it see the dyno tomorrow? Stay tuned for more fun and excitement! Sorry to vent in the thread
Sorry for the delay, but no i haven't had any luck. I bought some E55 bixenon projectors hoping that they would fit, but they don't even come close. I was in a rush to get ready for deals gap, so i just left it as is, i haven't really worked on it since.
I hope yours come out nice, I need a set haha.
I've been looking for projectors, but i need a projector that is no more than 3" maximum diameter, and no more than 6" long, I haven't had any luck.
I guess i could go to a smaller diameter, but i haven't found anything thats all that great for highs and lows combined. My current lows are the original HID's that came with the kit 60mm I believe, but these have no cutoff at all.

David, i may have just hit the jackpot. i started my new job. and the line i am on powder coats cat and john deere parts as well as others (those are the major ones though). and if i want to powder coat cat yellow, deere green, or one of several blacks i can powder coat anything that will fit for free. and if i want a different color, i just have to pay for the box of color.
now for the proverbial pot of gold, i may have access to a CNC machine to cut a master copy of the head light which is the major cost of this project, and the aspect that would/could delay the forward progress. now i need to find out about laser scanning.
i have someone interested in buying my place, so i can get a new place, new (old) 7, and get this thing going. super pumped, wish me luck.

Regarding lights, I did find these on the rallylights website:
http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=1795
These are 50mm HALOGEN projector low beams and could be used for an entry level kit, for those that want the kit but don't want to pay the HID cost. A set of these are about $260 versus $1,100 so they would save you $840. The lighting would still be a nice upgrade to the stock OEM stuff. I also found these:
http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=4924
They are bi-halogen projector units. That means you could have them on for both low beam and high beam operation, giving your kit four lights on at the low beam setting. This would definitely light up the road. The cost is also very low, or $300 for a set.
So, you could offer a very nice halogen kit for less and then have the HID upgrade for those that want the best lighting and are willing to pay the big bucks. And as the component cases for the halogen and HIDs would be the same, you can make one design and swap out the halogen and HIDs as needed.
Food for thought.

1,000% better lighting (okay the 1,000% is actually 300%) and you get to keep the popups. I have to say though I am liking what Dan is doing here with his sleek kit. It should provide a very modern up to date look and feel.

We have a small CNC at our shop. I'm not familiar with using it, but I'm sure I can learn!

2 5/8" diameter lens (measured at the front)
Entire housing length plus lens = no more than 6 1/4"

Can be purchased on eBay all day long for under $200 most of the time.
Hope this helps.
Second, the cost will definitely be less expensive but the resulting "kit" would not be SAE/DOT legal. This might not matter to most though as many vendors sell light retrofits as "off road" only but if you want a true sleek conversion, then there is just one option here, the Hella headlamp modules. They're pricey but well worth it.
I think they will fit as you are going to remove the pop up mechanism which takes up a lot of space. The issue you will have is how low you can place the lights and still have them be effective as the front lip of the bumper will start to block the light.
