So you would not recommend this kit for street drivers? I see it's almost 1 grand cheaper than a Brembo kit I saw so I'm really interested.

Is this a new caliper half/bracket (ala RB), or an extension bracket?

The brake package is designed to exceed the demands of heavily tracked Rx-7's, whether it's for competition or HPDE events. You can certainly use our kit for street driving, I do on my own car and a large number of our customers do as well. In the past we've had some issues with disc noise/squealing. Fortunately the new mounting bobbins come with with anti-rattle (anti-knockback) springs to help prevent/reduce disc rattle and noise.

Good question Peter. Our rear brake kit will use an extension bracket to push the caliper out.

Any chance that the original kit buyers can get their hands on a set of these new mounting bobbins with with anti-rattle?

Absolutely, unfortunately there's a small fee for them. Feel free to send us a PM or email: info@sakebombgarage.com

Thanks,

interested in getting this for a time attack car build, is there any upgrade options for the stock master cylinder? I think it might be on the weak side for a caliper of this size no?

I'm running the OEM master cylinder on my car with the brake kit and they feel great! With that said, a lot of people opt to install the 929 master cylinder when running a larger brake setup. We don't have a 929 upgrade kit currently but it's a fairly straightforward install....

929 master cylinder install

Has to be a new size bracket if it's an extension then get the bracket made or it's just dangerous flexing junk

Note that almost every aftermarket front brake kit on the market uses extension/adapter brackets to attach the caliper, are they junk too?

Looks like we have the answer and sometimes you have to stir pot to see what will float up when questions get ignored

The rear caliper lends itself to a 1 piece bracket ( cough cough similar to all the front caliper BBKs out there) why not have one made instead of a two piece which will likely flex and cause uneven pad wear. The oem rear kit already wears a little uneven but it's acceptable.

Instead of sarcasm you could instead acknowledge a two piece bracket design sucks and make a better than stock one piece bracket and give me a reason to buy your kit

+1 for one piece bracket. Your kit looks already looks great but as with most things there's always room for improvements and small things matter. Why not perfect it. With your fabrication skills and resources it shouldn't be hard. Just not sure if bracket design would be different for 93 and 99 rears.

Other than that, it's one of the best kids out there afaik, and the one I'm considering for when my car is track ready.

Not sure which question you think was ignored, but I answered Peter.

Our original plan was to have a one piece slider bracket made (same as stock and RB). From a manufacturing prospective it's simply not cost effective for us to take that route, even though it would be the best option. The one piece slider bracket would have to be cast (just like stock) and the volume produced would be low. Because of this we'd have to charge an outrageous amount of money for the rear kit and no one would purchase it.

Maybe RB was able to offer a cast bracket because they work with other applications in high volume, or they had it made over seas. I'm not really sure, but we make only RX-7 parts in low volume at this time. So the next best option is to make an adapter bracket, which we have done. To ensure there isn't excessive pad taper we will be measuring flex and comparing it with the OEM brakes. We're not here to release an untested sub par product. We're working to release an excellent product at a reasonable price that people are willing to pay.

With that said the other option is to use the 99 spec rear slider bracket with a 314mm 2 piece rotor. We'll be releasing a 2 piece rotor for those who already have 99 spec brakes and are looking for replacements regardless. We can fairly easily obtain the 99 spec rear brackets and they're a one piece design.

At this time we're waiting on the new discs to show up so we can verify fitment, test and take some pictures.

My apologies Dan I didn't see that post

In any case good luck with the kit and I look forward to trying your front brakes once my GT kit needs new rotors.

If my rear precision hats wear out I'll look to you guys for replaced two piece rears

The rear brake pre-sale is now live! We are in the middle of a production run for 12 kits, and are taking pre-orders starting today. The pre-sale price is reflected on our website, however as stated previously we will be giving a further discount to those purchasing our front AP Competition Front Kit at the same time (or for customers who have previously purchased our front kit, please email us with your order number -> info@sakebombgarage.com ).
