Ganador RX7 Mirrors

Hello!
I have been searching for Ganador side mirrors for over an year but wasn't able to find a pair for a decent price till yet. I'm getting one pair soon for myself and was wondering if I make replicas of the side mirrors would people buy them? Ganador side mirrors are the most demanded aftermarket mirrors for the RX7, original ones on JP auctions are selling over $1200 now and the price keeps increasing.

I have been making replica parts in both frp and aluminium since quite a time and I'm pretty sure I can do a decent job with the mirrors.

I have couple of ideas on how to make the mirrors but need your advice on what would you prefer the mirrors to be like...
  1. Full Aluminium Side Mirrors
  2. Full FRP Side Mirror
  3. Aluminium base and FRP outer piece
  4. Aluminium base and Plastic outer piece
I can also make a Carbon Fiber Cover for the mirror's like FEED does.
The mirrors will be manually controlled for sure unless someone can find what ganador uses for the mirror.

At this moment I have no idea on the price but It will be less than half what real ganadors are being sold for now.

If you have any suggestions or questions do let me know.

Thanks,
Fahad

I'd be first in line if you can produce good fitting/built Ganador replicas for a reasonable price.

If you can remold them for LHD, I'd be interested.

Looks like there's a set right now for $600 and $800 on yahoo auction right now. I've thought about buying them since I've seen em for $5-700 pretty regularly, but the RHD angling is a deal breaker for me ><

At one point Final Form USA produced a batch of mirror glass that had the angle fixed for LHD cars.:

Might pay to ask them if they are willing to do another batch......

These were actually produced by Eric (known for his blog, Grand Mighty) and final form resold his extras.

Hopefully they'll be well made Ganador Replicas. The work has already started and will be posting pictures soon.
The base I will be only making in Silver or Aluminium as they will be stronger than the FRP or Carbon ones.
I'm still not sure what to make the outer pieces with. (Options with those are Silver or Aluminium, FRP and Plastic) (Or it could depend on what the buyer wants)
Currently I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow make them Electric too. I have bought few electric mirrors from different cars and working out what can fit inside the mirror.

I'm not sure what the problem with the LHD cars are, from what I read you can perfectly see from the driver side mirror but viewing problems with the passenger ones?
What exactly is the problem? Does the mirror glass not turn enough to provide a good view?

The auctions you are looking at have few days remaining on them, keep updated with the auction especially in the last hour and see the price they go for... I followed few auctions trying to buy a pair but all the ones I saw sold for over 100k Yen.

I can't speak to the FD's Ganador mirrors, but my old S14 had mirrors from the RHD version, and I couldn't turn the mirrors far enough on the passenger side to be even remotely useful, and the driver side just barely got to where it needed to be. It wasn't a limitation of the motor, it was the mirror being unable to turn any further or closer in the housing.

And yea, they definitely have gone up in price over the past year or so, but there are always the "junk" ones that most people aren't willing to fix that still go for 50-70k range =P.

Broke the blue tinted ganador glass while working on the mirrors.
Who is buying me a pair once the mirrors are ready? 😝

Update:
The mirror bases are ready to be test fitted on the doors before I start taking orders for them. The only hold up on them was being caused because I was having hard time finding doors, by the end of the month I should have two samples ready. (Electric and Manual)
The mirror bases will be made of silver and the mirror housing depends what the customer wants I have two options for them FRP or Carbon.
I'll also be making Carbon Covers like FEED does for the outer housing which can be used with the original ganadors too!

Thanks,
Fahad

Update:
This is the first pair to be test fitted on a car, minor work left before they are complete.

Please note on this Ganador the mirror base is the one I made, the outer piece is a real ganador mirror housing.

TEST FIT

At this moment I can't give out a price as I still have not calculated how much it would cost per pair. All I can say they won't be cheap but would try to keep the price lower then real Ganadors. I'll be offering many different options so the buyer can get a pair according to his budget. Just few more weeks before I have few pairs ready in different options so I can show it and set a price.

Thanks,
Fahad
