Depending on how dense that is - I have no idea how you would get it in the fill hole.

But honestly, I get that's it's a concern, but I'm really not too worried about slosh. At best baffling is "nice to have" and not a must. We've tested the design in a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation (and don't get too impressed, it's just a feature of Solidworks ) and it seems to do pretty well even up to a G.

For such a small tank with minimal internal area - there just not a whole lot of places fluid can go. Fuel tanks are a bit different.

Wow guys. You are all pretty awesome. I can't believe the response and interest in this project. It's been a long road, and we aren't there yet - but this is a significant milestone for us. THANK YOU for keeping the wind in the sails.

As for a substantive update - the 3D printer doing the acrylite prototype contacted me yesterday to let me know printing has started. However, it's a total print time of 40 hours (!!!). But good things come to those that wait, right?

So what I'm expecting (hoping) is that we'll have the new print in hand mid-next week and continue with testing.



On the topic of hardware, I managed to find a source for JIS Grade 8 stainless bolts and washers which should be just about perfect. OEM on the left, sourced parts on the right.

Just a quick heads up - the two piece acrylite 3D printed tank has completed printing and will be shipped today. Once I have it in hand I will post pictures and try to simulate some slosh. I have seen pics and it looks great.

Also, I got an update from the manufacturer and this will help us dial in ETAs a bit more. Once we green light production, it will be 40 days to complete the mold and another 30 to produce all the parts. So that takes us to middle of October BEFORE shipping, which by boat can be another two weeks+. I'm also talking with a domestic warehouse / shipper to accept the shipment and help with the logistics these once they hit the states.

Kudos for thinking out an oem type solution to a widespread modification. These types of products always sell best and have the greatest impact. I feel this product will be a mainstay of all FI rotarys.

Quick question: meth can turn plastic yellow, do you plan to use a special type of plastic to combat this?

As long as it only changes the colour would it really matter? Isn't the idea that it sits behind the trim?

As for material choice, we will be going with HDPE, otherwise known as High-density polyethylene. We went with that because of it's resistance to methanol, if I'm being completely honest, I didn't ask the manufacturer or look into potential yellowing / avoidance... but I will send a quick e-mail off to the manufacturer.

This is also true. Most search results point to UV exposure as a prime culprit of yellowing... but that can't all of it since I've seen it happen to master cylinder tanks, coolant overflows, engine washer bottles, etc.

I'll report back what I find.
