Well, if you are going to put this in only for trackdays, you could ratchet-strap a 10l $20 tank to the trunk floor. 😉

The whole point for me with this (and what i read from the intro) was it works 110% on any untouched OEM car. Im probably never gona track my car, and any aux injection is purely for street use. And im not going anywhere without a spare. But then again, how many 99+ models with 17” spares are on the customer list? If you got a lot of aussies its important, a bit for EU since we got some imports, but not for the US for a long while.

Can you verify the diameter of the 17in spare? I will compare that to the OEM USDM Wheel.

My gut is, the extra inch translates to 1/2in encroachment in the sump. There is 1/2in spare space. I mean, the wheels well didn’t ALSO change size, right?

The catch will be - you'll have to run the level sensor in the original position. Which is no big deal, especially for a street car. The feed nozzle can still be in the bottom of the sump.

The spare is about 24”, it’s a pretty popular option for the 17” rims guys since you can get them dirt cheap from the RX-8 and Mazda3.

When you say "the spare" that's the stock USDM or the 17in option?

Because the USDM seems to be 24in as well

(610mm is 24.0157in)

Additionally, there's about 25mm (1in) between the sump and the tire.

Then like Spalato said - they’re the same.

Looks like it’s a bingo.

We have both spares here at SakeBomb, they're the same OD. No worries with fitting you're good!

Any chance to add a spot for the rear washer pump?

Nope. Well, I'm sure there's a spot for it to be mounted after the fact, but we're not trying to integrate it.

Ahh, I was hoping to keep the rear wiper and nozzle functional.

If it's nice out just clean your hatch with windex and some paper towels, if it's raining just use the wiper. I'm sure you could still mount an extra pump in there if you really wanted to waste your water/meth mix on hatch glass though.

There are much better things for you to focus on.. I for one couldn't be happier with how this is turning out!

The rear wiper - sure. No problemo.

The nozzle could be retained if you wanted to spray water/meth (or whatever you run) by tapping the tank for it. The motor is really tiny and could be mounted virtually anywhere.

But honestly, I don't think "retaining rear wiper nozzle" was ever in the plans let alone mentioned as a goal for this project. I had my rear wiper and nozzle scraped a long time ago.

I won't be running meth, it'll be straight water. I'm a little OCD, so if the system is there I want it to work 100%, if not I'll have to remove it. So it's either switch hatch or get a tank that works with the wiper system, yeah I'm weird lol.

FYI, Water + Meth = Windshield Wiper Fluid.

And not sure why you would replace your hatch if you can't make it work. Just wash it manually like fendamonky suggested. You'd have to do that anyways for a hatch w/o a wiper (and you wouldn't have the benefit of a wiper - if that's important to you) .

Product looks awesome.

I find it ironic people are worried about fitting a spare since 99.9% of the time a FD is broken down on the side of the road it has nothing to do with a flat tire.

No reason you can't tap the tank for a feed to the wiper fluid pump, and as stated above 50/50 is windshield wiper fluid. Most w/m kit companies sell you an untapped tank and expect you to tap it and install the little fitting they sell with it, this would be no real challenge to add a feed for the wiper pump, especially compared to replacing the whole hatch, which sounds way way worse than doing a simple shave and paint.

I honestly think he was just looking for something to complain about. After seeing his "finished products" over the years I find it hard to believe that he's actually a perfectionist, proud of his own work, or even remotely concerned with ensuring things are done correctly on a micro level. Complaining that he'll need to replace the entire hatch just to avoid tapping for an additional feed line seems a bit overly dramatic..

What complain? I didn't say this tank sucks because it doesn't have a spot for the OEM washer pump, I was just asking a simple question as a potential buyer. I have the OEM euro tank that keeps all the OEM stuff functioning, so I was just wondering if I'll be able to do the same with this one, not sure why this is not an acceptable question. I'm not gonna go into the whole hatch replacement thing as I don't expect everyone to understand my OCDness... not sure what "finished products" you are talking about either. As far as tapping for additional feed, did you actually look at how the OEM pump is mount?

On a serious note, this product is great, to Matt.

Don't worry bro, we'll get the rear washer pump mounted and they'll still be cleaning their windows by hand, like barbarians.
