NV Solenoid Rack

Eric,

Put me on your list for the next group buy. I am interested in the new setup as long as it will fit in the IC support bar. How long before you are ready to show us pics?

Joe

Joe I will put you on the list, thanks for letting me know and reminding me. New set-up is still in the "work" process as we are sorting out the best size fittings and such.

I believe this new setup will really get rid of any potential leaks due to it's original design that uses seals to block out any vacuum leaks.

With this new setup, everything is setup inside the manifold and no way of any leakage as they are all metal manifolds =).

I will try to get the info out asap. Thanks for your support!

-Cheers,
Eric Zheng

Ahh, I am sorry if I have made anyone gone crazy!!!

Let me explain:

You know our rack consist of 4 solenoids. 2xSMG and 2xMG. And the MG solenoids use O-rings (high temp teflon) and shares a same vacuum source. Therefore MAYBE many years from now, those seals in between can dry up and MIGHT have a leak (I highly doubt it, but it is possible).

Therefore to prevent ANY leakage at all, I've requested Fabco Air to make me a manifold to my specifications which are solid blocks that does NOT require any O-ring and such to seal themselves as they are solidly seal blocks.

I hope this explained the situation and DO NOT WORRY about your kit leaking, I am like 99% sure it will not leak =).

Thanks again for all those that had supported me and gave me kind words!

-Cheers,
Eric Zheng

havent gotten one in hand yet. But I believe they should be approximately the same size.

If a smaller size is what everyone demands. I can look into making something with the company which suites our needs.

But, it'll cost me quite a bit of $$ for custom set-up. We'll see.

With the new setup would it be possible to replace all the solenoids?

Yes, the circular portion (Which is the solenoid/actuator portion).

**** UPDATE ****

Attention GB#5

My vendor just confirmed and called back today that they are missing 6 valves (Fabco air had some backorders on the valves we used for the rack). Therefore do not freak out, I am still here keeping contact with the company and making sure we are on the same page and no one is left hanging. The harnesses are ready to be put on once the solenoids arrives.

Thank you for all of your patience!

-Cheers,
Eric Zheng

NV solenoids

Eric,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the FD. Regarding the question of can we replace all the solenoids - how many are there and do you feel this is necessary? If yes, can we get extra solenoids from you to replace them all?

I am happy with the results you and others have achieved with your original setup. I would not be willing to pay extra just to get the new setup in a smaller version. If the new setup is superior and will not delay delivery I am all for it for the same price.

Joe

No problem Joe. I welcome all questions especially if it clarifies any unexplained thoughts you may have.

As for the size, I cannot say anything about it yet as I have not gotten one on hand. I personally think the size should be rather the same.

Function wise, it will work exactly the same but with the exception of it will NOT leak for sure due to a block manifold design.

As for prices, No it will be the same as the original ones and it actually cost me about $15 more per piece, but I don't think it's not significant enough for me to charge my customer $15 more and it require less assembling work/time from me. Therefore it's a win/win for both me(seller) and you guys (buyers).

I dont think it is necessary to replace the other solenoids as they dont really tend of go bad. Mostly are these 4 that control's the turbo system that get's sticky and such. However it is definitely doable, but not recommended as it is not needed. Any used solenoid will do from the forum and it is much less expensive.

Another reason for me to go this route is because there are guys out there trying to copy my design, and going with this manifold set up; I will make my kit bullet proof yet it is more stand-out compared to "other" kits.

Also, I dont think anyone has come up with a PnP harness like I did, which is also another uniqueness in my kit.

Again, thank you all for your support and continue to purchase these kits from me and not doubt me for other's DYI out there. Thanks y'all!

NV Solenoids

Eric,

Thanks for your clarification. I plan on mounting the solenoids in front on the IC support and I am using the stock air filter box. Will the harness fit and be long enough or do you offer one a little longer to give us a chance to run the harness in the best location?

Joe

Joe, I believe another member had done the same with the current harness I provided. It should be long enough. Please read through this thread to find out more information about it.

Here is the member's user name, please PM him for any additional information you may need. Sephek

I just want to thank everyone for supporting this GB and purchasing my solenoid kit.

As of now, I've sold over 25+ kits and have shops over in Europe/UK contacting me regarding this kit on 20B and custom twins.

Without you guy's contribution and awesome reviews, my product would not have spread words so quickly and good impressions. As a courtesy and to show my appreciation; by my next GB (GB#6), I would like to do a shuffle ticket and one buyer will be able to receive $50 through paypal as gift.

Basically I will have everyone's name from GB1-GB6 put in a box and randomly pick it out. Soon I will paypal that lucky winnder =).

I hope ya'll will like this surprise =].

-Cheers,
Eric Zheng

Here's how I mounted my solenoid rack. The bracket my fabricator made from the template I came up with. <a href="http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo59/prrex4ever/?action=view&amp;current=springprojects015.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo59/prrex4ever/springprojects015.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
