Patience Boostcraver! This has actually been a pretty lightening fast prototyping process. I believe Sideo is closing in on cost estimates and opening an official group buy.

 

I understand. I MAY consider the bigger gas pedal if ita not too big but after its finalized.

 

Update:

Increased the radius of the corners on both the OE and wide gas pedals. I also removed the holes that are over the lever/weld area. Let me know what you think about the hole placement. It is more awkward than the clutch and break pedal because of their shapes. I think the wide radius bends look much better though!!

 

One more before I'm off to the shop to try and get a couple more prototypes done tonight.

For aesthetic reasons maybe you can tweak it a bit. I agree that the wide pedal in particular looks odd. How's this:


The red "X" would be the solid holes. And the black circle of course denotes a drilled hole.

I think symmetrically it's much better.

No, thank you guys for dialing in the details! This is a purely cosmetic part so aesthetics are very important!

I machined an OE style gas pedal with the increased corner radius, removed the holes on top of the lever, and switched my blasting media to "play sand" from home depot. I sand blases the **** out of the pedal and the surface finish is very close to the clutch and break. The color is lighter, possibly because the OE pedal is cast and a different alloy or possibly because mine have 150k miles on them.

What do you guys think?!

 

The worn highlights seem similar in color. I think it's metallurgy or age that makes the color difference. Radius looks awesome. The drilling suggestion looks nice. It's not as straightforward as the other pedals, I agree. But, they're whittled down to a matter of fact. And, symmetry is easier on the soul.

Sideo, that's pretty damn close man. They look great. For those of us who are real **** about it, perhaps we can blast our stock pedals to clean them up a bit and they'd all be pretty even. In pictures it's always hard to tell. To your naked eye, could they all pass as original?

Redbull is right , it only came in a specific models of FD's

 

I took a photo this morning when the sun was still out so hopefully it shows a little better. Right now it doesnot quite pass for OEM.

I went over the pedal with a wire brush and it looks closer. I think the sand blasting leaves a rough and non reflective surface that doesnt quite match the smooth but bunpy cast finish. Im thinking possibly sand blast followed by a bead blast or wire wheel might be closet.



Still hard to replicate what it looks like in real life. At this stage the color is lighter and not as reflective.

Try blasting one of the stock pedals clean, to know it's starting coloration?

 

I almost did this today but what if a blasted OEM pedal looks didderent than a new OEM pedal?

I think first ill take off an OEM pedal and scrub it with degreaser and a plastic scrub brush and report back!
