won't start flooded ???

My '91 convt. won't start. It was running great until it got cold today (15 degrees). I kept trying to turn it over and I think I flooded it.

I have a fuel shutoff switch, if I turn it off and let it sit until tomorrow will it un-flood on its own or do I have to do something ?

you have to put the gas pedal to the floor and crank it for several seconds

it wont unflood by itself

Should I leave the fuel switch off until I get it to turn over ?

I recharged the battery, pulled the plugs and cleaned them (top plugs were wet with gas). I put everthing back held the pedal to the floor and it still will not start.

The plugs had some build up on them, I cleaned them best I could with a towel.

It cranks, it just doesn't start. I'm off to pepboydsd to buy new plugs.

Any other suggestions. Could I have bigger problems then a flooded car ?

I waited and got it started, but then one of the belts started to smoke. The outer most belt heated up on the cooling fan pully. I don't the cooling fan pulling was turning. Is it suppose to ?

please help

if the belt smoked then the pulley might be locked up
you should be able to turn all the pullies by hand

Someone said water pump might be seized.

Is replacing the water pump a big job ? Is it an expensive part ?

ive not seen a s5, but on a fb its pretty simple, it shouldnt be much different, pretty strait foward

get a http://www.victoriabritish.com/ catalouge
has most of the part you need, but a a tad pricy
also check napa they tend to be pretty cheap for me

and get a haynes manuel

edit: i looked in VB they dont have a pump, napa should and it shouldnt be expensive

I think I found the problem, I got the car running, but it is leaking coolant like crazy. I took the rad cap off and there is ice in the spout.

I'm guessing the guy I brought the car from didn't put enought anti-freeze in. It was 7 degrees here yesterday.

I ran the car for about 10 minutes, when it started to heat up I shut it down. Do you think the ice caused any major damage ?

Its leaking at the front of the car, looks like below the radiator, I just can't see anything. The car starts fine so I'm hoping theres no major engine damage.

Does the rx7 have a freeze plug designed to pop if this situation happens ?

Do I remove both drain plugs (on rad and on engine block) to drain the system ?

Any suggestions on where to get a radiator, mazdatrix has one for $233.

Thanks for your responses.
