Why would there be oil here??
Okay, my buddy just bought a 93 touring RX7 w/ 82,xxx miles for CHEAP. We got the car up in the air last night and found oil everywhere on the underbody. It was obviously coming from the front, but we couldn't tell where from so we got under the hood. We removed the plastic intercooler/air intake box, the intercooler, air intake, etc. ALL of these things had oil in them, including a PUDDLE of oil in the intercooler and the intake box. There was oil at every connection from the air intake to where the intake mainfold meets the intercooler. What's going on? Is this coming from the turbos? They've never been replaced as far as we know, but he gets good boost. What should the troubleshooting be? I have worked on many turbo cars, like DSM's and MR2's, but never a rotary.
Thanks ahead of time for the advice and sorry for the long post.

Too bad in this case that you are right. If all the intake and intercooler piping is full of oil it is coming from the turbos. A film inside the hoses is normal; just enough to dirty your finger. But anything that you could call wet, puddling, pooling or pouring is bad. The boost being normal is not strange; it's just the oil leaking.
yes thats Bad all that oil is coming from the turbos - the shaft seals are shot - the oil in the intake box gets there from the BOVs
If the turbos are still giving good boost they should be rebuildable for a fairly reasonable price

Well, he still has his other ride, so the RX7 could be down for a few weeks. Whos the best place to send the turbos to for a rebuild? Anyone know approximately how much?
