Weird noise under light acceleration

Hey, so when im on the highway in my FD or accelerating lightly, around 2800 rpm the car makes a strange noise, it sounds almost like a growl, it doesn't happen when under normal acceleration. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Noises are one of the hardest things to diagnose based on description.
If you take 10 people and let them all listen to the same noise, you'll likely get 10 different descriptions.

This once again is where an experienced tech can come in handy.

Do you notice any vibration at all? Does it sound like it's coming from engine bay?

No vibration, sounds like engine bay, I was thinking maybe it had something to do with the intake manifold or something like that

does it do it with RPM? speed? throttle position? can you get it to do it in the driveway? my bet is that you're hearing the moo noise between when the air pump goes to relief and when the clutch turns off

you could unplug the air pump drive it and see if it doesn't make the noise your exhaust will smell rich but won't hurt anything just don't drive a lot like that but a few miles won't hurt your cat converter this is only if your standalone on the ecu I don't know but suspect you'll throw a cel with stock ecu

The "moo noise" is completely normal. It's a noise that most people still have and it gets louder if you have aftermarket intakes

the noise is the second turbo venting, this enables it to spool up to speed before it is phased in
