Weird noise under light acceleration
Hey, so when im on the highway in my FD or accelerating lightly, around 2800 rpm the car makes a strange noise, it sounds almost like a growl, it doesn't happen when under normal acceleration. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks 95 rx7 btw |
Noises are one of the hardest things to diagnose based on description.
If you take 10 people and let them all listen to the same noise, you'll likely get 10 different descriptions. This once again is where an experienced tech can come in handy. |
I get that, just posting to see if anyone has had a similar noise, and has a place for me to start

Do you notice any vibration at all? Does it sound like it's coming from engine bay?

does it do it with RPM? speed? throttle position? can you get it to do it in the driveway? my bet is that you're hearing the moo noise between when the air pump goes to relief and when the clutch turns off

Still run air pump? If so that's prob what your hearing it cuts off around 28-3k rpm

The "moo noise" is completely normal. It's a noise that most people still have and it gets louder if you have aftermarket intakes
|
the noise is the second turbo venting, this enables it to spool up to speed before it is phased in
