Two broken apex seal corner pieces?
How the heck does this even happen?
I was pulling apart my experimental huge port/stock timing GSL-SE engine to put its rotating assembly back into my 4 port 13B bridge port after having its side housings resurfaced and buying new rotor housings. I found this.
Apex seals are maybe 3000 miles old. Springs look great, which is actually kind of unusual as they seem to turn flat on one end after much time in use. Engine never saw over 9500rpm. Both broken seals were on the rear rotor. Naturally aspirated (obvs) with ignition timing around 22 degrees max.
I've never had any issue with Atkins seals before, this is just plain weird. I turned my last set past 10 no problems.
