Turbo Timer Wont Countdown

I recently installed an HKS Turbo Timer. Rpm / Speed / Parking Brake / And Ground wires all spliced in. All the Functions on the Turbo Timer work except for the countdown. I turn ignition off and Turbo Timer + Engine Shuts off.

Need help as i'm not sure what the prob is. I'm guessing Factory alarm , but not sure also.

You do realized that turbo timers are a waist of money? No matter how hard you drive, it's always better to drive your car around at light loads to cool the engine and turbos down before shut down. Reason is this is how you get the air flow to the radiator and oil coolers. You can't cool these things down by letting the car sit up and idle for lengthy periods of time. The engine and turbos get hotter this way because of the lack of air flow. I should know because I have over 100k on my Fd with original engine and turbos. Also your oil cooler doesn't have a fan like the radiator does. Trust me, your money is better spent on something else.


Edit: Now what you could do to make that timer more usefull is to us it as a timer to control the electrial fans after shut down. I know Fc's dont have electric fans but it's something you can keep in mind if you ever do the conversion. This is far more usefull because it cools down the engine bays components extending their life span.

did you ground under the mirror switch?? try that if that dosnt work, which it sould switch up the plug wires and keep trying it...i was having that prob also but i just did what i told u and it worked...can u post pics of where u ground is???

its sounds like it can only be a problem with the ebrake sensor, but might I ask why you just didnt buy the 15-18 dollar universal harness made for fc's it makes the job so much easier

I had this happen to me once when installing a turbo timer on a different car. For 1G DSM's there is a slight difference between cars with alarms and cars without alarms. When I got my harness it was for a car with the factory alarm. The problem is you have your power wires mixed up. The power wire that is supposed to be a constant on is a switched source. Thats why when you cut the ignition the turbo timer is shutting down also.

And that guys that said they aren't worth the money is wrong. The thing that makes the turbo the hottest is the exhaust gas temperature which is lowest when the car is idling. As long as you car doesn't overheat while idling then the fan that pulls air through the rad and the oil cooler, since they are stacked, will remove heat from the system. The biggest thing is just maintaining oil flow through the turbo to prevent oil coking. That is why secondary oil pumps or accumulators will do the same thing as an idling engine without the idling engine.

Every thing works fine now. Had the Harness hooked up wrong. Thanks again guys.
