turbo 11 probs
if anyone can give me some input here i will be greatfull , i'm running out of ideas fast , i have a s4 with smoking probs the car smokes on idle..... if i hold it at 2 grand i get a faint hue of blue smoke, as soon as i back off i get a decent amount of blue/white smoke then back to the smoky idle. now here's the problem the engine is fresh almost run in , about 800 clicks. and i have had the turbo off and looked at twice with new seals put in both times just to be sure.( hybrid t04 ) . when the turbo was off last time i blocked all feeds off and ran the car , no smoke at all. hmmmm i'm thinking gotta be turbo. get it back with thumbs up from my turbo guy ( and the new seals to be sure ) whack it on.... smoke !!!!! arrrggg. next step was run flexi tube into intake manifold off afm bypassing turbo completly ..... no smoke. so this also eliminates the hot side turbo seal. as soon as afm is hooked upto the turbo i get smoke. i run it for a while and check turbo outlet theres a thin film of oil in there only enough to lightly film the first elbow nothing in i/c piping . have checked oil return from turbo all good. what do you think ??? the car has standard ecu, t04 hybrid ,12a sec, front mount, extend port.

i am experiencing similar problems. i have an engine that i purchased from a company that ships engines from japan. i have white smoke only between shifts and if i run the car up to about 4000 rpms and let off the gas, during deceleration it lets out a big cloud of smoke. i also have changed the turbo 3 times. does this sound like a broken waterjacket or oil seals? the car doesn t overheat or no missing coolant. any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem. I don't even have any miles on my fresh Atkins engine. I start the motor, everything is fine, no smoke from exhaust or engine bay area. Then after about 3 minutes of 1200rpms, my exhaust is pouring whiteish smoke and smoke is coming from around the turbo. Still have cats but no air pump, egr, or acv. Also, went to check coolant after I shut it down. Wasn't hot but there was pressure. I opened the top cap slightly and heard air rushing out and then coolant leaked around the cap and I closed it back up. It's not even hot. What's going on??

The turbo, when left to sit alone by itself for a long time, will tend to smoke once it's running again. Just make sure the engine isn't ingesting coolant. I find that the turbo should stop smoking after about 10 minutes at high idle to burn off all the crap it soaks up.

Well, I found the reason why there was pressure in the coolant system with cold water on top... for some reason, I'm not getting any coolant flow. I was advised to install a new thermostat per the instructions with the motor. The way I figure it with no coolant at all, with the thermostat in, I poured in 4.5 quarts of antifreeze and then topped off the radiator with water. Then began pouring water into the top cap. I had three quarts left to put in when the top cap filled up. Anyway, seems the thermostat wasn't letting any coolant into the motor at all. It sealed the air in the motor so no coolant could flow up from the bottom when I added coolant to the radiator. So...I'm letting the engine cool now and will pour in water with the thermostat removed to fill the block. Hopefully the motor isn't fried. I took it around the block (with apparently no coolant) and the temp guage quickly made it's way to the top. I turned the motor off and coasted home. I relieved the pressure in the system, removed the thermostat housing and thermostat and noticed no coolant in there at all. So I'll give it another try later.
