what year is the car?
when there's a problem with the tps, the ecu assumes WOT, which causes it to drown in gas and stumble like a ****

How bad would it affect it at WOT. Just asking because the car is pretty sluggish.

could possibly effect wot if it's not adjusted right.

is it just slow, or is it backfiring or missing?

the tps can make the engine fall flat on its face and it can cause high and or erratic idle problems. it can make the engine buck atcruise and will help determine air fuel ratio.

It backfires quite a bit but I am assuming that is from too much gas and no cats. It dosent miss though.

backfiring is common in a rotary, especially when the timing has been played with or someone has messed with the mixture screw

it accelerated smoothly up to about 5K and then it sputtered and would not pull. up to that point, the car was just slow, feeling as if it were extremely under powered. perhaps like a converter were clogged.

on n/a's i just crank timing up until it starts missing a little bit @ idle, then back off a tad from there. then use premium. it helps out with low end power, throttle response, and gas milage.

not the safest thing for turbos though.
