I went to perform round 2 of my engine rebuild deep clean and found these spots on my center housing. I am specifically referring to the area by the step wear.

I coated the faces with wd40 after the first cleaning so I don't know what happened here. My best guess is that there was already some pitting that I missed somehow.

Since I'm having a hard time locating a new replacement version, I wanted to make sure that I am correct that this needs to be r we replaced now. Thanks for your help.
