Are these housing any good??
Just took my engine apart to do a rebuild and a BP. I took pic of both housing, I also notice that the corner seals springs where flatten too.
This is the reason why I started to do the rebuild, I took it to Dave at KDR to get it dyno and this is what he notice.

OK those cleaned up real nice!
The chrome looks like it held up, but it is wearing off along the edges and will worsen rapidly. Can you catch your finger nail on it anywhere? The housing could be used, but why chance it? Check the F/S section, housings typically go for $100-$150. You should be able to find a good condition one.

I really can't catch anything with my finger nail but if you notice on the 2nd pic(after cleaning) the left side edge where is goes from chrome to black, well the long black line is chrome missing. so I'm not going to chance it like you said. If I don't find good used one where is the best place to buy new one?
Take your time looking for a good used one. A clean used one is just as good as brand new, and you'll save 3-4 Hundred. Housings are always for sale, and a good one is going to pop up. Be patient. While you should never cheap out on anything, spending $500 on ONE housing is something I could never do.

It's tough for us to see from the pics, but you've clarified.
