Smokes in right hand corners only!

I rebuilt an early 4 port 13B for a customer that's running a Racing Beat Holley that had been sitting for about a year in an MG used for autocrossing and he tells me it smokes terribly in hard right hand corners only. Here's a pic. Any suggestions what it could be?

I also used a second gen eccentric with the early hub and for some reason the timing seems to be retarted even when set at 20 degrees total advance according to the timing marks. The car does not have the power it should have and I am suspecting the timing marks are not accurate. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help you

Yes it does have any oil pan baffle. Will a rotary have the same effect if over filled with oil as a piston engine. I have thought about the pan being over filled but have not determined how the oil would get into the combustion chamber unless I'm missing something.

That would be a good question. In Rx8's I've had issues with running rough with no CEL on. There is a bulletin out discussing issues with over filling the oilpan. Low and behold the engine had roughly 8 quarts in it. ( The 8's only hold four until 2009 where they increase capacity to 4.5 quarts.

I'm just kinda tossing the idea out there since you were just asking. Maybe something to do with the Carb floats..?

There is something about the Holley carbs that involves the design of their floats. They will starve going through a turn one way, or flood turning the other way. There is an option of another type of float that is hung differently to fix this. I think they have details about this on the RB website.

What does the smoke smell like? That will really narrow this discussion down.

Also, with my stock carb, if the fuel pressure is set too high I will flood out on leftys. Just a thought.

Timing: There is a writeup in the 1st gen Archive section on how to determine TDC for proper placement of the dizzy when the front pulley is misaligned. Has to do with removing an inspection plate on the side of the motor (by the exhaust) and rotating the engine until you see a thin spot on the flywheel. Something like that. Look up the thread for correct detailed instructions.

As far as my experience has shown me. If you reduce the size or breathing capabilities of the crank ventilation system, the engine will not be able to breath into the sump, so instead it goes back into the combustion chamber.
