Rpm and clutch question.

Not really sure what section this belongs in but here goes. This happens when the car is moving or when shifting gears. Whenver I press on the clutch, the RPM goes up a little about 300 RPM before it goes down so I can shift gears or what not.I understand usually you press on the clutch the RPM always goes down, (in the other cars I that driven atleast) My question is: is it normal? And if it isn't, how do I correct this?

Are you still pressing the gas while you push the clutch?

might this be when you press the clutch you're actually taking the load off the engine/tranny, therefore ..rpm jumps a little ?

It really sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Does it have problems idling or cold startups?
